Job Description

We have revolutionized allergy diagnostics and have been operating successfully in more than 90 countries for over 10 years with our diagnostic products and patented technologies. Our products help clarifying allergies in a single step – for humans and animals alike. Allergies are diagnosed in a highly specific manner so that patients receive help by their specialist in no time. We increase quality of life, enable personalized treatment, advance research and relieve our health system.

We need you for:

  • Development, optimization, and characterization of immunoassays (e.g., ELISA, multiplex and array-based platforms)

  • Design and execution of analytical validation studies in line with established guidelines (e.g., CLSI – Clinical & Laboratory Standards Institute), including:

    • Precision (repeatability and intermediate precision)

    • Accuracy, linearity, and analytical sensitivity/specificity

    • Establishment and verification of calibration models and standard curves

  • Statistical analysis and fitting of assay data, including curve modeling, performance evaluation, and trend analysis

  • Planning, execution, and documentation of verification and validation activities

  • Systematic troubleshooting and continuous improvement of assay performance

  • Preparation of comprehensive technical reports summarizing experimental findings and validation outcomes

  • Clear communication of results, including presentation of data, interpretation, and formulation of recommendations for further development steps

  • Proactive identification and implementation of technical improvements for new and existing (legacy) assays

Your profile:

  • Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, or a related field

  • Strong hands-on experience in immunoassay development and validation

  • Proven track record in designing and executing analytical validation experiments, in accordance with CLSI guidelines (Clinical & Laboratory Standards Institute), including precision, linearity, sensitivity, specificity, and robustness assessments

  • Experience with calibration strategies and curve fitting (e.g., 4PL/5PL models) and understanding of assay dynamic range and performance characteristics

  • Proficiency in data analysis and statistical evaluation using tools such as Excel, GraphPad Prism, R, Python, or similar

  • Structured, detail-oriented working style with strong problem-solving skills

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a cross-functional environment

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly document, interpret, and present complex scientific data

We offer:

  • A full-time position

  • Annual pass for Vienna's public transport and Pluxee vouchers

  • Collaboration with people who care about human and veterinary patients alike

  • An environment where you feel empowered to ask questions, make requests and offer ideas

  • An atmosphere created by the thoughts of sustainability, equity, diversity, inclusion, and mutual respect

For the cooperation in our team, we offer a payment in line with collective agreement (Handwerk und Gewerbe) based on a full-time position. Your actual salary depends on your previous experience and qualifications. Ready to become part of the MADx team? Then apply with your CV via our website!

MADx – Macro Array Diagnostics GmbH

About MADx – Macro Array Diagnostics GmbH

Since the foundation of MADx in 2016, we produce reliable allergy and food intolerance tests for diagnostic clinics, laboratories, doctors' practices and hospitals.

In the beginning there was a vision to improve and modernise immunodiagnostics. Scientists - like our founders, Dr. Christian Harwanegg and Dr. Christian Sascha Dennstedt - always strive for disruptive innovation. So after more than a decade with leading companies in the field Dr. Christian Harwanegg decided to start his own enterprise in 2016. The goal was clear: The newly founded company MADx (Macro Array Diagnostics) should create an allergy test that is supposed to be better, more efficient and easier to use than the ones of the competition. In addition, we wanted to offer the entire value chain from test material to evaluation and interpretation of results, all under one roof.

A mammoth project? Without question, but worth the effort: for sure. Over the past years, we have launched two generations of the ALEX (Allergy Xplorer), which now tests for around 300 different allergens - in a single, non-invasive step. Our panel covers nearly 100% of the world's relevant allergens. We have developed proprietary hardware and software solutions that define new standards. We are constantly innovating and expanding our portfolio, as most recently with the FOX (Food Xplorer), a solution for the detection of IgG-mediated food intolerances.
