Your New Role

Are you a senior technology architect who thrives at scale, shaping strategy, leading teams, and influencing enterprise‑wide outcomes?

Reporting to the Head of Architecture Services, the Senior Architect – Technology Platforms is a senior leadership role within the Technology, Digital & Data domain. You will lead a team of Solution Architects responsible for the strategy, planning and solution architecture of AustralianSuper’s core global technology platforms.

This role has oversight across cloud infrastructure (Azure), modern workplace services, integration platforms, and global network architecture, ensuring solutions are secure, scalable, resilient and aligned to the Fund’s Strategic Technology Roadmap.

You’ll play a critical role in lifting architectural maturity, defining target states, and ensuring platforms are fit for purpose in a complex, regulated, global environment.

You’ll partner closely with engineering, delivery and domain‑aligned teams, acting as a trusted authority on architecture, standards and governance. This role requires both deep technical credibility and strong people leadership, motivating teams, influencing senior stakeholders, and enabling the business through technology.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead and manage a team of Solution Architects delivering architecture across cloud, network, modern workplace and integration platforms.
  • Define and maintain strategy‑aligned architecture roadmaps, articulating current and future state across core technology platforms.
  • Provide authoritative architectural leadership, ensuring solutions align to standards, best practices, security and governance requirements.
  • Partner with engineering and operational teams to address lifecycle, resiliency, scalability and performance considerations.
  • Act as the primary architecture engagement point for stakeholders, managing demand and guiding solutions through governance forums.
  • Contribute architectural insight and reporting to Technology Leadership, Executives and Board‑level forums as required.

What You’ll Need

  • Strong proficiency in:
    • Azure cloud architecture and associated Microsoft technologies (e.g. M365).
    • Network architecture (e.g. SD-WAN, Azure networking, Express route, Azure virtual Wan)
    • Workplace architecture (in-Office technologies such as Crestron, MS Teams Rooms)
    • Integration architecture using Azure Integration Services (AIS)
  • Extensive senior leadership experience in technology architecture within complex, enterprise environments.
  • Deep architecture and design experience across Azure cloud, modern workplace (including M365), network and integration platforms.
  • Proven experience designing and governing solutions in Infrastructure‑as‑Code and DevSecOps environments.
  • Strong background delivering architecture for large, complex programs of work (typically $20M+).
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, develop and motivate high‑performing architecture teams.
  • Strong understanding of integration architecture, including Azure Integration Services, Logic Apps and Function Apps.
  • Experience operating in regulated environments with strong governance, risk and compliance awareness.
  • Advanced stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence senior leaders and translate technical concepts for non‑technical audiences.
  • Broad knowledge of enterprise architecture frameworks such as TOGAF, COBIT and ITIL.
  • A strategic, systems‑thinking mindset with strong analytical and problem‑solving capability.
