Job Description

At Wētā Workshop, we don’t just build worlds — we transport audiences into them.

From award-winning installations to record-breaking attractions, our immersive experiences are driven by imagination and crafted with passion, offering audiences a promise: to experience something they’ve never encountered before.

We have an opportunity for a Senior Architect to join our Immersive Experiences team - a 12 month fixed term role with longer term potential.

This role will lead the architectural design and technical development of immersive, themed entertainment projects through all phases – transforming creative vision into built reality.

You’ll do this through:

  • Leading the architectural design process from early concept through to construction
  • Running structured design processes in line with recognised frameworks (RIBA, AIA, NZIA)
  • Collaborating closely with clients, creatives and other stakeholders, while coordinating multidisciplinary efforts to achieve the best design outcome
  • Leading technical delivery and construction administration
  • Mentoring and guiding the architectural design team

We’re keen for someone who understands that environments that we create require more than technical skill – they require imagination, collaboration and precision, with the ability to translate story and concept into space.

We want to hear from people with at least 8 years' architectural experience in large-scale commercial design work - ideally you'll have direct themed entertainment design experience, but that's not essential. You will need proven ability to lead projects through all phases of design and delivery.

You will be skilled at managing recognised design processes and have strong technical knowledge, alongside an ability to mentor junior team members.

You will also need to have a relevant architectural qualification and registration.
