Parsons is seeking a highly experienced Senior Architect / Architectural Design Engineer to support the design review, coordination, and technical assurance of architectural packages for a large-scale airport development project. This role requires strong expertise in airport terminal planning, building architecture, passenger flow design, and multidisciplinary coordination within complex aviation environments.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 8 years of experience in architectural design and delivery of major infrastructure or airport projects, with strong exposure to design review, authority compliance, and stakeholder coordination in PMC or delivery partner roles.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Lead the review of architectural design submissions across all project stages (concept, schematic, detailed design, IFC).
  • Ensure compliance with applicable international standards, local authority regulations, airport authority requirements, and client specifications.
  • Review drawings, design reports, specifications, material proposals, and architectural details.
  • Support value engineering initiatives to optimize functionality, passenger experience, constructability, and lifecycle performance.
  • Review terminal layouts, spatial planning, and functional zoning for landside and airside facilities.
  • Assess passenger flow efficiency including arrivals, departures, transfers, and security processes.
  • Evaluate wayfinding strategies, accessibility compliance, and user experience design.
  • Ensure integration of retail, lounges, F&B, and commercial spaces within terminal planning.
  • Coordinate architectural design with MEP, structural, façade, civil, ICT, and aviation systems teams.
  • Review and resolve design clashes and interface issues across disciplines.
  • Support BIM coordination and model-based design validation processes.
  • Ensure architectural design integration within the wider airport infrastructure program.
  • Provide technical support during construction, installation, and fit-out phases.
  • Review contractor shop drawings, material submittals, RFIs, and technical queries.
  • Conduct site inspections to verify compliance with approved architectural design and specifications.
  • Identify and resolve design-related issues impacting construction progress and quality.
  • Coordinate with airport authorities, regulators, consultants, contractors, and client representatives.
  • Support design approvals, permitting processes, and regulatory submissions.
  • Participate in design review workshops, technical meetings, and coordination sessions.
  • Ensure alignment of architectural design with operational and aviation authority requirements.
  • Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless integration of architectural systems.
  • Review BIM models for spatial coordination, design integrity, and compliance.
  • Identify and resolve interface issues between architecture and other engineering disciplines.
  • Support digital design coordination and clash resolution processes.
  • Ensure architectural deliverables comply with project specifications, codes, and design standards.
  • Participate in design audits, technical reviews, and quality assurance processes.
  • Monitor design consistency across all packages and stages.
  • Support implementation of best practices in architectural design delivery.
  • Prepare and review design review comments, technical reports, and assessment documents.
  • Maintain records of design decisions, approvals, and coordination outcomes.
  • Provide updates on design progress, risks, and technical issues to project management.
  • Support closeout documentation and as-built validation requirements.
  • Ensure architectural design complies with HSE requirements and airport safety regulations.
  • Support safe-by-design principles and constructability reviews.
  • Promote sustainable design practices including energy efficiency and environmental performance.
  • Contribute to green building and sustainability objectives where applicable.

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture (Master’s preferred).
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in architectural design, coordination, and design review.
  • Proven experience on airport, transportation, or large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • Strong background in design review / PMC / client-side consultancy roles.
  • Experience in terminal buildings, public infrastructure, or complex building typologies.
  • Strong knowledge of architectural design standards, codes, and best practices.
  • Experience in airport terminal planning and operational design requirements.
  • Proficiency in BIM tools (Revit, Navisworks, or equivalent).
  • Strong understanding of multidisciplinary coordination processes.
  • Excellent analytical, design review, and technical evaluation skills.
  • Strong communication, report writing, and stakeholder coordination abilities.

What Desired Skills You’ll Bring:

  • Professional certification (RIBA, AIA, or equivalent) is an advantage.
  • Experience in international airport development projects.
  • Knowledge of ICAO, IATA, NFPA, and relevant building/aviation standards.
  • Experience working under FIDIC or similar contract frameworks.
  • Exposure to large-scale terminal expansions or greenfield airport projects.
  • Strong client-facing and authority liaison experience.
  • Familiarity with sustainability frameworks (LEED, Estidama, or equivalent).
