Compensation: $135,000 - $165,000 / year

We are looking for a Senior Architect to support and lead the delivery of major infrastructure, rail, and transit projects throughout the New York and New Jersey region.

This role combines architectural project leadership, design compliance & coordination, construction administration, and client management. The Senior Project Architect will coordinate project teams internally and externally with clients, consultants, and contractors while helping to resolve complex project challenges throughout the design and construction process. The successful candidate will be a proactive leader who can identify critical path issues, develop solutions, and drive implementation.

Responsibilities

  • Perform day-to-day coordination and management of architectural project teams, including consultants.
  • Lead project design efforts and multidisciplinary coordination across internal teams, consultants, contractors, and client organizations.
  • Manage schedules, milestones, deliverables, and budgets for complex infrastructure projects.
  • Oversee the preparation and completion of architectural contract documents, drawings, and specifications.
  • Administer ongoing and future design/construction efforts, including:
    • Site visits
    • Field reports
    • Submittals
    • Substitution requests
    • Requests for Information (RFIs)
  • Prepare and present design solutions to clients, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies.
  • Manage client relationships and coordinate project needs with design and construction teams.
  • Lead change management efforts and implementation of project modifications.
  • Contribute to project design during multiple phases of development.
  • Identify and resolve design, technical, and constructability challenges.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable building codes, industry standards, and contract requirements.
  • Work collaboratively under the guidance of the Chief Architect while helping lead project teams.
  • Mentor junior architects and contribute to the professional development of team members.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture.
  • Licensed Architect in New York preferred; New Jersey license or active pursuit of licensure also acceptable.
  • 7 to 10 years of architectural experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership on large-scale infrastructure, rail, transit, NYCT, MTA, NJ Transit, or similar transportation projects.
  • Experience in all design & construction project phases.

Required:
  • AutoCAD
  • Revit
  • MicroStation
  • Bluebeam
  • Microsoft Office Suite
Preferred:
  • BIM 360
  • Navisworks
Ideal Candidate(s)
  • Significant transit and transportation infrastructure experience in the NY/NJ market.
  • Direct experience working with agencies such as MTA/NYCT, NJ Transit, Amtrak, Port Authority, or LIRR/Metro-North.
  • Proven leadership managing multidisciplinary teams and consultant coordination.
  • Strong presentation, negotiation, and client management skills.
  • Experience overseeing projects through both design and construction phases.

The base salary range for this role is indicated in the posting. This range reflects the company’s good faith estimate of the compensation for this position at the time of posting. Final compensation will be determined based on factors such as experience, skills, qualifications, internal equity, and geographic location.
