We are seeking a Senior Applications Engineer to bridge advanced materials development with real-world hardware applications. This role is highly hands-on and execution-focused, translating technical strategy into experiments, prototypes, and validated performance data that inform both engineering decisions and customer-facing outcomes.
You will work closely with the Director of Engineering to execute development plans, troubleshoot technical challenges in real time, and ensure that materials and processes are effectively integrated into functional systems.
Technical Execution: Carry out the day-to-day engineering tasks, experiments, and project deliverables aligned with the Director’s technical strategy.
Hands-on Assembly & Testing: Support the integration of our materials by executing physical assembly, bonding processes, and performance testing.
Data & Reporting: Gather, analyze, and document technical data from tests to provide the Director with the insights needed for customer and executive updates.
Problem Solving: Act as the primary troubleshooter when technical issues arise during development, finding practical solutions to keep projects moving forward.
Cross-Functional Support: Help coordinate between internal engineering teams and external customer requests to ensure project alignment.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Materials Science, or a related technical field.
Experience: 5+ years of hands-on experience in hardware engineering, product assembly, or materials testing.
Core Skills: Strong background in a lab or testing environment with a proven ability to work with physical hardware and materials.
Adaptability: A flexible mindset with the ability to take high-level direction from leadership and turn it into actionable daily tasks.
Communication: Clear verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with the Director and internal teammates.

Founded in San Francisco in 2013, we have grown into the #1 producer of single-crystal diamond globally. We are the rare unicorn that has grown fast profitably. Ours is one of the greenest forms of tech manufacturing: converting greenhouse gas into diamond wafers using zero-emission energy.
We are now in the 2nd stage of our 30-year master plan:
2013+: Deliver sustainably created diamond for wherever mined diamond has been able to go. Reform diamond jewelry in the process.
2023+: Put a diamond behind every high-power chip. Solve the thermal limitation at the foundation of today's most exciting tech industries -- AI & cloud compute, electric-car power electronics, and 5G/6G wireless.
We have managed to create the world's first single-crystal diamond wafers — and created the world’s most compact power electronics with it: 8x smaller than Tesla’s.
2033+: Diamond semiconductors. Transistors with 17,300x the semiconductor merit over silicon.
In 100 years, no-one will remember what Google was but all tech will be based on diamond electronics.
