Job Description

A Senior Application Systems Engineer plays a critical role in the development, implementation and integration of software applications and systems. They contribute to the success of projects by designing efficient solutions, ensuring system performance, and providing technical support to stakeholders. The senior role performs project management functions for assigned projects. The core duties of this role include work of the same or similar nature of teammates.

A working knowledge of telehealth, telemedicine, and video conferencing infrastructure and technology platforms (Epic, Cisco, Vidyo, Zoom, etc) is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather and analyze requirements for software applications and systems.
  • Design, develop and configure software solutions to meet customer needs.
  • Implement and test commercial (off-the-shelf) and custom developed software applications and systems, ensuring they meet performance and quality standards.
  • Maintain and support applications and systems including problem investigation, issue resolution and performing system updates/upgrades.
  • Provide technical support to stakeholders, assisting with system integration and troubleshooting.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends and advancements, identifying opportunities to improve existing systems or develop new ones.
  • Conduct system performance analysis and optimization to enhance efficiency and reliability.
  • Create technical documentation, including user manuals and guides.
  • Participate in the evaluation and make recommendations for third-party software components, tools and technologies.
  • May act as project manager and collaborate with project team members to ensure timely and successful project delivery.
  • Can act as the primary mentor and provide training and guidance to other team members on software applications and systems.
  • Manages single-person or small to medium group size projects from inception through completion including development, execution, and monitoring of the work plan. This will require the monitoring and support of individuals daily work assignments and maintaining a project schedule that ensures cross coverage.
  • Present in any size group setting and some management settings (informal and formal presentations). Communicates the status of open requests, problems, or issues to all involved
  • Can assist with development, maintenance, and revision of procedures and workflows to ensure efficient, and effective operations through process improvement (yellowbelt level) projects.
  • Will ensure the quality of ongoing work of team members through the division of tasks.
  • Perform work locally, remotely, via telephone, e-mail, and in-person at all Dartmouth Health locations as necessary.

  • Qualifications

    • Application Systems Engineer II at Dartmouth Health for a minimum of two (2) years OR a minimum of six (6) years of relevant experience.
    • Familiarity with software development methodologies and practices.
    • Experience with system integration and troubleshooting.
    • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
