About the role


Working as a senior contributor within Administration Platforms, this role is responsible for ensuring the stability, availability, and effective operation of MUFG’s administration platforms across Australia and Hong Kong. The role provides deep technical expertise and production support across the application lifecycle, acting as a trusted escalation point for complex incidents, root cause analysis, and data or system integrity issues.
The Senior Application Specialist is actively involved in the assessment and design of solutions for large or complex changes, providing input to ensure solutions are operationally sound, supportable, resilient, and aligned to production and control requirements.
The role contributes to the continuous improvement of platform reliability, support processes, and controls, while collaborating closely with technology, operations, vendors, and regional stakeholders. Leadership is provided through influence, mentoring, and knowledge sharing.

Key Accountabilities and main responsibilities Strategic Focus

  • Provide senior technical stewardship for MUFG’s administration platforms across Australia and Hong Kong, ensuring platforms remain stable, secure, scalable, and fit for purpose.
  • Act as a trusted subject matter expert for administration platforms, contributing to strategic decisions relating to platform support models, resilience, and long term sustainability.
  • Ensure production support activities align with MUFG’s technology strategy, operational priorities, and regulatory obligations across regional environments.
  • Proactively identify systemic risks, technical debt, and recurring issues within administration platforms, and contribute to strategies to reduce incidents and improve overall platform health.
  • Partner with architecture, development, operations, and vendor teams to ensure platform changes and enhancements are supportable, well controlled, and production ready.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of support processes, tooling, automation, and monitoring to improve service quality, efficiency, and responsiveness.
  • Support regional harmonisation of support practices across AU and HK to deliver consistent, high quality outcomes for stakeholders and clients.
  • Promote strong production governance by ensuring incidents, problems, and changes are analysed, documented, and managed in line with MUFG standards and frameworks.
  • Provide strategic input into platform lifecycle planning, including upgrades, remediation initiatives, and supportability considerations for future change.
  • Act as a senior technical reference point within Administration Platforms, providing leadership through influence, mentoring, and knowledge sharing to uplift team capability.
  • Take end to end ownership of tasks and their resolution.

Operational Management

  • Act as an escalation point for platform related issues, working closely with development teams, operations, vendors, and regional stakeholders to restore service and minimise business impact.
  • Be actively involved in the assessment and design of solutions for large or complex changes, providing input to ensure solutions are operationally sound, supportable, resilient, and aligned to production and control requirements.
  • Support the assessment and implementation of application fixes, configuration changes, and platform enhancements, ensuring solutions are production ready, supportable, and aligned to agreed standards and controls.
  • Provide senior level production support for administration platforms across Australia and Hong Kong, including investigation, triage, resolution, and root cause analysis of complex incidents and data or system integrity issues.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, records, and knowledge artefacts relating to incidents, known issues, support procedures, and platform behaviours to strengthen operational resilience and service quality.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to provide consultation from both a business and a technical viewpoint in order to assist in the definition of business requirements, tender responses and Proof of Concept projects

People Leadership

  • Act as a senior role model within Administration Platforms by demonstrating strong ownership, accountability, and professionalism in the delivery of production support outcomes.
  • Provide mentoring, guidance, and informal coaching to team members, sharing deep platform knowledge and best practices to build technical capability and support consistency across AU and HK teams.
  • Contribute to knowledge transfer and capability uplift by producing and reviewing support documentation, runbooks, and technical guidance for administration platforms.
  • Foster effective collaboration across application support, development, operations, and vendor teams by building trusted relationships and promoting constructive, solution focused engagement.

Governance & Risk

  • Ensure administration platform support activities are performed in accordance with MUFG policies, standards, and control frameworks, including change, incident, problem, and access management requirements.
  • Contribute to the identification, documentation, and management of application related risks, issues, and control gaps, escalating material risks to appropriate stakeholders when required.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing accurate information, evidence, and subject matter input relating to administration platforms, production incidents, and support processes.
  • Promote strong risk and control awareness within Administration Platforms by adhering to established procedures, maintaining high quality documentation, and embedding lessons learned from incidents and reviews.


Experience & Personal Attributes

  • Significant experience supporting complex, business critical administration platforms within regulated financial services environments, preferably superannuation or insurance.
  • Strong technical capability in application production support, including incident management, root cause analysis, data or system remediation, and operational problem solving.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively across the full application lifecycle, partnering with development, operations, vendors, and business stakeholders to deliver stable production outcomes.
  • Proven experience operating in high availability, multi region environments, with the ability to coordinate and support platforms across Australia and Hong Kong.
  • Sound understanding of IT service management, change control, and operational governance principles, with a strong appreciation for risk, controls, and audit requirements.
  • Ability to analyse complex technical and business issues, exercise sound judgement, and communicate clear, practical recommendations to a range of technical and non technical stakeholders.
  • Strong ownership mindset, with a proactive approach to continuous improvement, documentation quality, and knowledge sharing.
  • Demonstrated capability to mentor and support peers through influence and collaboration, without formal people management responsibility.
  • Highly adaptable, self motivated, and resilient, with the flexibility to respond to production issues and changing business priorities as required.
