Application / Software Architect – Power Platform (Senior)

Location: Ottawa, ON

Contract role

Our client is modernizing a critical internal platform used to manage scientific research programs across Canada. The organization is rebuilding the solution using Microsoft Power Platform and is seeking a senior-level Application / Software Architect to lead the architecture, design, and technical strategy of the platform.

This role is ideal for a highly experienced architect with strong stakeholder management skills and deep expertise in Power Platform architecture, governance, integrations, and enterprise solution design.

Role Details

• Role: Application / Software Architect (Power Platform)
• Level: Senior (Level 3)
• Security Clearance: MUST have a valid and active Secret clearance
• Engagement Type: Contract / Task Authorization-based
• Work Location: Primarily remote (NCR context)
• Working Hours: Between 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM Ottawa time

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the overall architecture and technical design of enterprise Power Platform solutions
• Design and implement scalable solutions using Power Apps, Dataverse, Power Automate, and integrations
• Define system interfaces, data models, environments, and integration strategies
• Establish architecture standards, governance frameworks, and best practices
• Facilitate architecture and design workshops with business and technical stakeholders
• Evaluate and recommend appropriate technologies and solution approaches
• Collaborate with development teams to ensure alignment with architectural standards
• Provide technical leadership throughout the project lifecycle

Required Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience as an Application / Software Architect
• 2+ years of hands-on Power Platform architecture experience
• Strong experience designing enterprise Power Platform solutions
• Experience leading architecture and technical design sessions with stakeholders
• Microsoft Power Platform certification (PL-600 or equivalent)
• Strong understanding of:
  • Power Apps
  • Dataverse
  • Power Automate
  • System integrations
  • Solution governance
  • Enterprise architecture practices

Preferred Experience

• Experience working within large enterprise or public sector environments
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
• Ability to lead solution strategy and technical decision-making
• Experience with governance, compliance, and secure enterprise deployments
