Senior Application Developer - Epic Research - (26005162)

Description

This position will provide technical leadership, direction, and technical support for the development, configuration, implementation and ongoing maintenance of Epic System software related to research applications. This position will work in partnership with the Institute for Clinical and Translational Science, Epic, Subject Matter Experts and Health Care Information Systems to support strategic planning, daily operations, and assist with technology planning to maximize user and organizational effectiveness. This position includes working with Project Management groups, key stakeholders, vendors, contactors, and end users regularly.This position is eligible for remote work within Iowa and will require a work arrangement form to be completed upon the start of your employment. Per policy, work arrangements will be reviewed annually, and must comply with the remote work program and related policies and employee travel policy when working at a remote location. Position Responsibilities:Analysis/DesignCollaborate with subject matter experts to analyze workflows and develop application designResearch system solutionsCreate functional/technical specifications for system build and complex integrated systemsLead design and analysisDevelop technical design and procedures for new or revised applicationsLeads the review and analysis of system problems to identify solutions and/or make appropriatereferralsDemonstrate features to the user community and assess applicability, impact and value ImplementationConfigure and customize applicationsReview the application build for efficiency, completeness, and correctnessUnderstand and adhere to Change Management policies and proceduresUnderstand and adhere to IT Security policies and procedures Support and MaintenanceCompletion of related Epic Certifications/accreditations or eligible to obtain and maintain relevantEpic certifications/accreditations specific to your roleGuide development and maintenance of testing scripts for execution during implementations,special updates, and system upgrade cyclesResolve complex system problems through participation in 24 x 7 on-call rotationsProposal software maintenance proceduresEvaluate system upgrades to identify new functionalityDevelop standards for documentation to ensure recovery capability, as well as satisfactory andstable performance of the platform(s) and all applications and processesLead staff in development and maintenance downtime workflows and proceduresTravel to customer sites as needed to support application implementation, upgrade, optimizationand/or training/conferences Project ManagementDevelop work plan and time schedules for computing projects including outlining phases, identifying personnel, and computing equipment requirements. Monitor progress and revise schedule and plan as needed Business AnalysisIdentify business system solution requirements by analyzing work processes and operations;Evaluate business and information systems functionalityServes as the liaison for technical staff, users, vendors, and other stakeholdersAnalyze, document, and recommend business process design in applicable areas Leadership/Staff Management/Financial ResponsibilityGuide staff in documenting system procedure and guidelines for users, as well as programs and program modificationsAssist in developing ideas for presentations to senior management. Qualifications

Education Required:Bachelor’s degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and related application development/support experienceCertification must be obtained within 30 days after the corresponding EPIC class ends. In cases where an employee cannot meet this timeframe, they should work with their supervisor to establish an approved plan for completion.Required Qualifications:Experience in the development and/or support of applications used by non-technical customers to support and enhance workflow processes, preferably healthcare, typically 5-7 years of experience for a Senior Application Developer role Experience acting as the primary contact for the support, configuration, and development of at least one enterprise application or area of functionality, preferably healthcare related Experience working with application owners and/or vendors to define system requirements, integration requirements and understand business needs Demonstrated experience working with end-users to define system requirements, understand business needs and convert business requirements into functional/technical specifications for complex integrated systems build Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with basic project management Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with technical and non-technical staff Driver's License and ability to meet UI Fleet Safety StandardsDemonstrated experience working effectively in a welcoming and respectful workplace environment

Desired Qualifications:Experience supporting clinical research initiatives through Epic EHR integration with Clinical Trial Management Systems (CTMS), including collaboration with clinical research teams and leading EHR-related implementation efforts Demonstrated knowledge of clinical research compliance, regulatory requirements, and research best practices, demonstrated through relevant experience, education, certifications, or training such as Human Subjects Protection (HSP), Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR), and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) CITI programs. Experience working in an enterprise research environment that spans multiple departments, disciplines, and stakeholder groups, with demonstrated success building collaborative partnerships Experience supporting an EHR in an ambulatory or hospital setting Epic certification/accreditation related but not limited to the following: Research Clinical, Research Billing, Cosmos, EpicCare Inpatient Procedure Orders, Order Transmittal, EpicCare Ambulatory, EpicCare Inpatient Clinical Documentation, SmartForms Demonstrated ability using tools for customizing vendor application software Demonstrated knowledge of integrated system software solutions Experience collaborating with technical and non-technical staff on system implementation projects Strong problem-solving skills and experience adhering to regulatory requirements with respect to system configuration Proven ability to write application test scripts To be considered, applicants must upload a resume (under submission relevant materials) that clearly addresses how they meet the listed required and desired qualifications of this position.
