This is a 12 month fixed term opportunity

Our team builds the foundational platforms that empower engineering teams across Trade Me to create mobile experiences that truly matter to New Zealanders. As a Senior Mobile Developer (Android) in our Koru team, you’ll drive architectural standards and elevate core app infrastructure, while predominantly using the very platform you build to craft user-facing features that loads of Kiwis use and enjoy daily. Beyond shaping our native Android ecosystem, you’ll own outcomes that multiply developer impact while directly shipping high-visibility features straight into the hands of our customers.

Here is what you can expect from this role:

• Build native Android applications using Kotlin to give our mobile users a world-class experience.
• Mentor and coach less experienced team members as a trusted technical advisor.
• Contribute to all lifecycle phases - from ideation and design to development and user testing.
• Proactively research, investigate, and lead new initiatives to keep Trade Me at the forefront of mobile innovation.
• Uphold quality standards by implementing functional and UI automated tests alongside manual testing.
  
• Collaborate within dynamic squads and contribute to Trade Me mobile guilds.

What you will bring to our team:

• 5+ years of experience in native mobile development, specializing in Kotlin for Android platforms.
  
• Hands-on experience developing with AI tools, and a natural curiosity to weave them into your everyday work.
  Proven experience with Agile software development methodologies.
• Ability to deliver large features, support architectural decisions, and collaborate with Lead Software Engineers.
• A positive, collaborative mindset with strong organizational skills and comfort with self-directed work.
• Sharp attention to detail to make our mobile experience faster, more reliable, and easier to maintain.
