Join BCI’s Performance & Analyticsteam as a Senior Analystor Associatein Victoria, British ColumbiaWorking at the intersection of investment knowledge and data, you will deliverdecision readyperformance insights that directly support investment teams and senior leadership.This position will be filled at the Senior Analyst or Associate level based on the successful candidate's experience and qualifications.
Reporting to the Manager/Senior Manager, Asset Class Performance, this role is a key contributor to a team that serves as a trusted and independent source of performance insight and directly supports BCI’s investment strategy.
At the Senior Analystlevel, you will focus on theaccurate,timelypreparation, validation, and delivery of performance reporting across asset classes, with a strong emphasis on private markets. You will work closely with investment and data teams to ensure performance information is reliable,well-understood, and delivered on time.
At theAssociatelevel, the role brings deeper specialization in private markets performance measurement, including return calculations, benchmarks, attribution frameworks, and reporting for portfolio managers and senior leadership. The Associate also leads enhancements to performance data, processes, and tools, and drives cross-functional initiatives across the organization.
Performance & Analytics sitswithin the Finance department, part of BCI Operations, and serves as an authoritative source of performance information supporting BCI’s investment strategy.
Organized around a customer‑centric structure, the team aligns to the stakeholders it supports, including Total Fund Performance, Asset Class Performance, Client Performance, and Performance Analytics & Support, delivering focused,one stopservice across independent portfolio and benchmark measurement,in-depthattribution, insightful analysis, and comprehensive reporting. The team also supports compensation evaluation and helps ensure client expectations are met through clear, consistent performance insights.
3+ years of experience in investment performance measurement or a closely related role within an institutional asset manager, pension plan, or financial institution
Undergraduate degree in finance, mathematics, economics, statistics, or computer science; progress toward CIPM, CFA, or CAIA considered an asset, or equivalent experience
Solid understanding of institutional portfolios and performance methodologies, includingtime‑andmoney-weighted returns, attribution, benchmarking, and GIPS principles
Strong analytical andproblem-solvingskills, with high attention to detail and the ability to communicate performance results clearly and on time
Ability to manage competing priorities within established processes and timelines
Advanced Excel skills, including Power Query and pivot tables, and working SQL knowledge for data validation and issue resolution
Ability to read andmodifyPython scripts, with comfort using code as an analytical tool
5+ years of experience in institutional investment performance measurement
Active pursuit or completion of CIPM, CFA, or CAIA designation strongly preferred
Strong understanding of institutional investment portfolios and industry-standard performance methodologies
Strong communicator; distills complex quantitative findings for diverse stakeholders
Proven ability to lead initiatives and drive process and data improvements
SQL: Proficient in multi-table queries; independentlyvalidatesand troubleshoots data discrepancies
Python:Abilityto write andmaintainwell-documentedscripts supporting performance and data workflows, Dash or equivalent experienceisan asset
Experience withSimCorpDimension (Performance module)
Experience with Power BI, Tableau, or Excel VBA
Experience using AI tools (e.g., Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot) to support analysis or efficiency
Strong relationshipbuilding skills in a large institutional environment
Prepare and deliver performance reports accurately and on time
Monitor,validate, and explain performance data; investigate and resolve return anomalies
Respond to ad hoc performance dataand analysisrequests
Identifyopportunities to improve reports, workflows, and processes
Document procedures and support internal controls
Participate in business planning, corporate initiatives, and compliance and risk management activities
Apply and refine performance methodologies, return calculations, and benchmark frameworks
Lead complex performance analysis; respond to advanced ad hoc requests from investment teams and senior leadership
Resolve complex return anomalies using sound methodological judgment
Drive enhancements to reporting workflows, data processes, automation, and analytical tools
Evolve analytical tools and frameworks to meet changing business and investment needs
Lead or contribute to cross-functional initiatives; provide guidance and training to team members
Maintain awareness of industry best practices in performance measurement and private markets
Support internal controls, compliance, risk management, and business continuity planning
This role will be based in our office in downtown Victoria, BC. We are an in-person collaborative organization with the flexibility to work remotely 1 day a week.
The annualized base salary range for the Senior Analyst role is CAD $90,000 to $109,000. For the Associaterole, the range is $103,000 to $134,000.
BCI offers a competitive total rewards package, including a performance-based incentive plan, comprehensive health & dental benefits, a defined benefit pension plan, and paid time off. We pay our people competitively in the markets in which we operate and with consideration for internal equity and job structure. The base salary will consider factors such as the individual's skill set, experience, and internal equity. We aim for actual pay to be around the market median for expected performance and the upper quartile for excellent performance. Actual salaries may vary based on experience and expertise.
