Job Description

Responsibilites

Network & Collaboration Operations

  • Own day-to-day operational management of the enterprise Aruba LAN and WLAN estate (campus, branch, and site networks), ensuring availability, performance, and security.
  • Provide expert-level implementation and ongoing management for Aruba switching, wireless controllers/APs, ClearPass and associated management/monitoring platforms.
  • Lead incident, problem, and change activities for Network & Collaboration services, driving root-cause analysis, remediation, and continuous service improvement.
  • Strategic Outcome: Reliable, performant network services with measurable stability.

Financial & Asset Stewardship

  • Support budget management for Network & Collaboration services, including forecasting, variance analysis, and cost optimisation opportunities.
  • Maintain asset lifecycle visibility (switching, wireless, licenses), supporting renewal planning and ensuring spend aligns to service demand and standards.
  • Strategic Outcome: Transparent cost control, accurate forecasts, and well-timed renewals with no unmanaged budget drift.

Vendor & Service Partner Management

  • Coordinate with vendors and service partners to deliver network and security services to agreed SLAs, ensuring effective escalation and service restoration.
  • Support commercial activities (quotes, renewals, true-ups), contributing to business cases and ensuring value for money.
  • Strategic Outcome: Stable partner performance with clear accountability and commercial discipline.

Security, Standards & Compliance

  • Ensure network services operate in line with security policies and technical standards, maintaining accurate documentation, diagrams, and configuration baselines.
  • Support audits and control testing by providing evidence and ensuring timely remediation of network/security-related findings.
  • Strategic Outcome: Strong security posture and audit readiness with controlled configuration and documented standards.

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Partner with Service Desk, Infrastructure, Security, and site IT teams to deliver consistent Network & Collaboration services and a high-quality user experience.
  • Translate business requirements into technical designs and operational plans, supporting projects and standardised rollouts across sites.
  • Produce clear reporting on service health, risks, and capacity, and contribute to governance forums and CAB as required.
  • Strategic Outcome: Clear ownership, strong cross-team alignment, and faster resolution through effective operational engagement.

Service Improvement Mindset

  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve network performance, resilience, and operational efficiency through automation, standardisation, and monitoring enhancements.
  • Maintain high-quality technical documentation and knowledge articles to support supportability and faster incident resolution.
  • Contribute to technology roadmaps and lifecycle planning for LAN/WLAN and related security services, aligning improvements to business priorities.
  • Strategic Outcome: Continuous improvement with repeatable standards and better operational outcomes over time.

Operating Model

  • Work within a global support model, collaborating across time zones to provide responsive operational support and project delivery.
  • Act as an escalation point for complex LAN/WLAN issues, supporting service owners with technical analysis, reporting, and problem management.
  • Coordinate changes through established governance (e.g., CAB), ensuring plans, risks, and backout steps are documented and communicated.
  • Strategic Outcome: Well-governed operations with strong technical ownership and predictable change outcomes.

​Skills

  • Expert-level knowledge and hands-on experience implementing and supporting Aruba LAN (switching) and Aruba WLAN (controllers/APs) in an enterprise environment.
  • Strong operational experience with monitoring, troubleshooting, incident/problem management, and change control for LAN/WLAN services.
  • Working knowledge of SD-WAN concepts; experience with VMware Velocloud SD-WAN is highly advantageous.
  • Knowledge of the Zscaler suite (e.g., ZIA, ZPA, ZDX) is highly advantageous, particularly where it intersects with branch connectivity and user experience.
  • Experience managing budgets and renewals (forecasting, variance analysis, and cost optimisation), with confidence working with vendors and procurement.
  • Clear communication skills with the ability to produce concise technical documentation, service reporting, and stakeholder updates.jj
