Senior Analyst Programmer (Student Information Systems) (26270050)

The Office of Information Technology is seeking a dedicated Senior Analyst Programmer to join our team. Reporting to the Senior Information Technology Manager (Student Information Systems), the appointee will play a crucial role in the development, maintenance, and support of the Student Information Systems, as well as other initiatives and projects that emerge from the University's digital transformation journey.

Responsibilities:

• Assist supervisor in IT project implementation and support, including collaboration with vendors and consultants;
• Conduct feasibility studies, proof-of-concepts/technical demonstrations, documentation, testing, training, and deployment to address business requirements and target outcomes;
• Work independently in application development, covering system design, coding, testing, and implementation for PowerBuilder and web-based solutions;
• Perform regular system monitoring, proactively identify and resolve application issues to ensure optimal reliability and performance;
• Collaborate with other IT teams, third-party vendors, and consultants to ensure efficient and high-quality project deliverables; and
• Perform other IT projects and assignments as assigned.

Requirements:

• A bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science or related discipline;
• Minimum of 4 years or above of post-qualification experience in application development;
• Skills and experience in:
• PowerBuilder development (experience with PFC is a plus);
• Java/JEE development, including EJB technologies, JSF, AJAX, Spring Boot, RESTful APIs, and modern frameworks such as React, and Node.js;
• Frontend and web development: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP;
• Database development: SQL, PL/SQL, and working with RDBMS such as Sybase, MySQL, and MSSQL;
• Scripting and automation using Linux/Unix shell scripting;
• Administration and deployment on enterprise web application servers, specifically IBM WebSphere Server and Oracle WebLogic Server;
• Familiarity with API management tools (e.g., Boomi) is an advantage;
• Prior experience with student information systems will be highly desirable;
• Self-starter and results-oriented, with strong business acumen; and
• Ability to work well in a team environment while also being capable of working independently.

Candidates with less experience or lower qualifications will be considered for the position of Analyst Programmer.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to sit for a written test.

The initial appointment will be offered on a fixed-term contract of two and a half years.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
