The Opportunity

We are seeking a Senior Analyst, IT Cloud & Infrastructure to join our IT Operations & Projects team in Toronto, Ontario. This is a permanent position that will support the operation, governance, reliability, security, and continuous improvement of Vale Base Metals' cloud and infrastructure platforms.

Reporting to the Manager, Network & Hosting Management, you will play a critical role in supporting the reliability, security, governance, and continuous improvement of our global cloud and infrastructure services. You will partner with stakeholders across Cybersecurity, IT Operations, Applications, Project Delivery, Service Management, and Managed Service Providers (MSPs) to strengthen operational excellence, enhance resiliency, support cloud governance initiatives, and ensure technology services remain secure, stable, recoverable, and aligned with business objectives across our global organization

In this role, you will:

Cloud & Infrastructure Operations

  • Support enterprise cloud, hosting, virtualization, storage, backup, and recovery services.
  • Validate that infrastructure services are delivered against agreed service levels, operational procedures, and security requirements.
  • Act as an escalation point for complex operational issues across hosting and cloud platforms.
  • Support the availability, stability, resilience, and supportability of infrastructure services.

Cloud Governance & Service Improvement

  • Support day-to-day cloud operations, governance, monitoring, and service ownership activities.
  • Identify opportunities to optimize cloud consumption, automation, performance, resiliency, and cost efficiency.
  • Reinforce governance practices, operational controls, standards adherence, and service accountability.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across cloud and infrastructure platforms.

Incident, Problem & Change Management

  • Support complex incidents, major incidents, problems, and changes involving cloud, hosting, storage, and related infrastructure services.
  • Analyze root causes, recurring issues, and service risks while driving corrective and preventative actions.
  • Ensure operational readiness and risk assessments are completed for infrastructure changes.
  • Collaborate with MSPs and internal teams to improve service stability and outcomes.

Backup, Recovery & Operational Readiness

  • Support enterprise backup, recovery, disaster recovery, and business continuity processes.
  • Review recovery readiness, restore testing outcomes, retention compliance, and operational risks.
  • Participate in transition-to-run activities for new technologies and infrastructure services.
  • Validate runbooks, monitoring, support models, CMDB records, and operational procedures prior to service acceptance.

Performance, Monitoring & Governance

  • Monitor availability, capacity, performance, backup success, and infrastructure health trends.
  • Identify risks, bottlenecks, and opportunities for operational improvement.
  • Maintain accurate asset, configuration, and operational documentation.
  • Support audit, compliance, and governance activities through operational evidence and control validation.

Stakeholder & Vendor Management

  • Collaborate with infrastructure, security, application, identity, workplace, and project teams to resolve issues and improve service delivery.
  • Work closely with MSPs and technology vendors to ensure service quality and operational accountability.
  • Translate technical findings into actionable recommendations for leaders and stakeholders.
  • Support and mentor junior team members while promoting operational excellence and consistent practices.

About You

  • You are a highly collaborative technology professional with a passion for operational excellence, infrastructure reliability, and continuous improvement.
  • You thrive in complex enterprise environments and enjoy partnering with stakeholders to solve problems, optimize services, and deliver secure, scalable technology solutions.
  • You possess strong technical expertise across cloud and infrastructure platforms and can effectively translate technical findings into practical business recommendations.

Experience

  • Minimum 8 years of experience supporting cloud, infrastructure, datacenter, hosting, storage, backup, or related enterprise technology environments.
  • Experience working within complex hybrid cloud and on-premises environments.
  • Experience supporting service management processes including Incident, Problem, Change, Capacity, and Availability Management.
  • Experience working with Managed Service Providers (MSPs), vendors, and cross-functional technical teams.

Education

  • College Diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is considered an asset.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of cloud infrastructure, virtualization, storage, backup, recovery, and hosting operations.
  • Understanding of Microsoft Azure and/or other enterprise cloud platforms.
  • Familiarity with ITIL-based service management practices.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to assess operational risk and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to translate complex technical concepts into practical business recommendations.
  • Continuous improvement mindset focused on reliability, automation, standardization, security, and operational excellence.

Preferred Qualifications

  • ITIL Foundation certification.
  • Microsoft Azure Administrator, Azure Solutions Architect, AWS, VMware, cloud security, backup, or storage certifications.
  • Experience with operational governance, compliance, audit support, and cloud optimization initiatives.
