What You’ll Be Doing
Reporting to the Director, Financial Crisis Management Group, the Senior Analyst plays a key role in supporting the continued enhancement and regulatory compliance of CIBC’s financial crisis management plans. The role is responsible for contributing to the development of the Bank’s Recovery Plan and Resolution Plan for regulatory submission, with a focus on data-driven analysis, high-quality documentation, and the design and execution of testing activities to demonstrate crisis management capabilities.
The successful candidate will bring strong SQL proficiency, including the ability to develop complex queries, extract and analyze large datasets, and translate findings into clear, actionable business insights. This role requires comfort working with relational databases, optimizing query performance, and supporting reporting and decision-making through accurate and efficient data analysis. Experience applying SQL in a business or analytical environment is essential.
The Senior Analyst will work closely with internal partners across the Bank to support recovery and resolution planning deliverables and contribute to the ongoing enhancement of processes and capabilities within the Financial Crisis Management Group.

How You’ll Succeed
Diversity of Banking Experience – Experience across multiple banking functions, such as risk management, finance, treasury, liquidity, or related disciplines, is considered a strong asset. Exposure to a range of roles within the financial services industry will support success in this position, given the cross-functional nature of recovery and resolution planning and the need to engage effectively with stakeholders across the Bank.
Project Management – Demonstrated project management capability, including the ability to support the planning, coordination, and execution of key Financial Crisis Management Group initiatives. The role requires strong organizational skills, the ability to track deliverables and timelines effectively, and the capacity to coordinate across multiple stakeholders to ensure work remains aligned with regulatory requirements and business objectives.
Relationship Management – Strong relationship management skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with internal partners and stakeholders across a range of business units. The role requires a high degree of accountability, sound judgment, and the ability to proactively manage issues, follow through on commitments, and support the timely delivery of end-to-end processes and key deliverables in alignment with organizational objectives and regulatory requirements.
Initiative – Demonstrated initiative and a proactive approach to staying current on relevant regulatory guidance, emerging industry developments, and evolving crisis management expectations. The role requires the ability to assess potential implications of these developments on recovery and resolution capabilities and to incorporate insights into ongoing planning and enhancement activities.
Communication and Writing Skills – Effective communication and writing skills, with the ability to prepare clear, concise, and well-structured documentation to support recovery and resolution regulatory submissions, as well as executive-level presentations in PowerPoint. The role requires the ability to communicate findings, methodologies, and recommendations clearly to internal stakeholders and regulators, while ensuring materials are accurate and appropriately comprehensive.
Organization – Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple deliverables concurrently, maintain attention to timelines and priorities, and coordinate contributions from internal partners and project stakeholders to support the timely completion of key activities and deliverables.
Technical Knowledge – Demonstrated technical knowledge and quantitative analysis capability, including proficiency in SQL and Excel to extract, manipulate, analyze, and interpret complex datasets. The role requires the ability to apply data analysis effectively to support reporting, insight generation, and informed decision-making.
Who You Are
You can demonstrate experience across a broad range of subject matter, including moderate to complex financial modeling and spreadsheet development using Excel, along with strong proficiency in PowerPoint. Advanced SQL skills are considered a strong asset, including the ability to develop complex queries and extract, analyze, and interpret large datasets. You also demonstrate a working knowledge of Finance and Risk Management concepts, including balance sheet management and stress testing. You are able to develop financial models, interpret results accurately, and communicate insights clearly and effectively to support decision-making. In addition, you work collaboratively with team members and contribute to the timely delivery of high-quality outcomes.
