Job Description

Kia ora!

At Heartland, we’re growing—and we’re looking for a Senior Analyst – Finance Operations who’s ready to make a real impact behind the scenes of our business.

Why this role matters

Finance Operations sits at the heart of what we do—keeping our financial data accurate, our controls strong, and our operations running smoothly.

In this role, you’ll be a trusted expert, owning complex reconciliations, strengthening controls, and helping us continuously improve how we operate. You’ll work closely with the Head of Finance Operations and play a key role in ensuring we deliver with confidence, accuracy and integrity.

What you’ll be doing

No two days are quite the same here. You’ll:

  • Own and deliver complex reconciliations with precision and care
  • Support operational finance processes, including expenditure approvals and reporting
  • Act as a go-to expert for resolving complex issues
  • Strengthen and maintain manual and automated controls
  • Identify risks and opportunities, and help drive process improvements
  • Contribute to the smooth running of the function—supporting workflows and team effectiveness

About you

You’re someone who thrives on detail, enjoys solving problems, and takes pride in getting things right.

You’ll bring:

  • 4+ years’ experience in reconciliations or operational finance
  • Experience in complex, high-volume environments
  • Exposure to banking or financial services (ideal, but not essential)
  • Experience with ERP systems (like Workday) and reporting tools
  • Advanced skills in Excel (formulas, pivots, Power Query) and tools like Power BI
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively
  • A proactive mindset—you take ownership and make things happen

Why join Heartland?

We’re an NZX/ASX-listed financial services group with big ambitions and a clear strategy: to digitalise everything we do so we can deliver faster, smarter, and better for our customers.

We’re proud to support a diverse range of New Zealanders—from business owners and farmers to retirees—with award-winning savings and finance products.

What you’ll get

  • Employee banking benefits and great insurance cover
  • A fun, social culture (think sports teams, Friday pizzas & drinks)
  • Real opportunities to learn, grow and progress your career
  • A workplace where your ideas and impact truly matter

Our culture

At Heartland, we:

  • Work as one team
  • Embrace innovation and change
  • Celebrate diversity and inclusion
  • Support wellbeing and belonging

We’re proud to be a Living Wage Employer, a Rainbow Tick certified organisation, and a Hearing Accredited Workplace. You’ll also have opportunities to get involved in our employee-led groups—from sustainability to diversity and culture.

Ready to join us?

If you’re looking for a role where you can take ownership, drive improvements, and be part of a high-performing, supportive team—we’d love to hear from you.
