About The TeamThe Enterprises Strategy team is responsible for defining and shaping the company's long-term strategy and executing strategic initiatives to position the organization for sustained profitable growth. We partner directly with the executive leadership team and senior business stakeholders to drive transformational change and deliver enterprise-wide impact.

Enterprise Strategy is a dedicated team within the broader Corporate Strategy & Research (CS&R) group. CS&R is an award-winning 35-person enterprise strategy and internal strategy consulting team within Liberty Mutual Insurance, a Fortune 100 company with 40,000 employees operating in 28 countries and economies worldwide.

The DetailsReporting to the VP, Enterprise Strategy Officer, you will be an integral member of the dedicated Enterprise Strategy team that advises Liberty Mutual’s senior executives in making critical decisions and setting Liberty’s long-term strategy.As a Senior Analyst, you will play a key role in developing a Liberty perspective on key industry trends and the broader competitive landscape, coordinating the strategic planning process across the company, and collaborating with strategy and finance counterparts across the Business Units and Corporate Functions to frame and provide recommendations on key strategic choices.You will receive training and mentoring from the Enterprise Strategy Officer and the broader CS&R team who will support your development and career progression. Through your day-to-day work, you will develop key thought-partner relationships with leaders across the organization.Your Responsibilities will Include:

  • Directly contributing to strategic development, prioritization, and execution of high-priority, high-visibility initiatives for the Executive Leadership Team and senior business stakeholders
  • Maintaining and developing a strong understanding of market dynamics and emerging trends, monitoring financial and operational performance of competitors, and performing in-depth market research and analysis to evaluate Liberty’s strategic positioning
  • Supporting the enterprise strategy setting and strategic planning process and partnering with the Finance organization to drive connectivity with broader integrated planning and capital management activities
  • Conducting in-depth research, collecting data from various internal and external sources, and analyzing and synthesizing outputs to identify solutions to complex problems
  • Crafting storylines that clearly articulate findings, insights, and recommendations and communicating with senior leadership to move the organization to action
  • Designing and executing workplans that support the team’s ability to drive multiple high-impact initiatives forward while maintaining a high standard of delivery

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; CFA, CPA, and/or CPCU a plus
  • 2-4 years professional experience; strategy consulting, corporate strategy, and / or corporate development / M&A experience preferred
  • Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills; experience with Competitive Intelligence tools (e.g., S&P Capital IQ) is a plus
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to gain support and influence others
  • Ability to adapt to a dynamic, changing environment and partner needs
  • Strong time-management and project management skills
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
  • Insurance or financial services industry experience preferred (but not required)
  • The role is located in Boston, MA only; working in a hybrid model (weekly blend of 3-4 days in-office and 1-2 days working from home)

Pay Philosophy: The typical starting salary range for this role is determined by a number of factors including skills, experience, education, certifications and location. The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.
