The position is responsible to lead and execute design and development of component/ module /subsystem by preparing innovative concepts in HMI Mechanical Structures and mechatronics. Builds on organizational/process knowledge, understands business needs. Identify opportunities for improvement, and Solves complex problems, trade-off & prioritizes design decisions.Responsible to meet product and sub-system level attribute targets.
Lead & own category specific HMI projects
Responsible to generate and review engineering design concepts at module/component level aimed at improving performance, increasing quality and/ or optimizing cost.
Leads interactions with Engineering, Manufacturing and Supply chain teams to examine Design for Manufacturability & Assembly in support of existing products and introduction of new products & technologies.
Develop the interfaces between the electronic and mechanical parts of the system.
Communicate task status and risks to project team members and management
Conduct tolerance stack analysis to ensure efficient assembly and reliable product performance
Leads Manufacturing feasibility studies for NPD
Develop prototypes of the new product for manufacturing.
Learn and integrate Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerance (GD&T), Design For Six Sigma (DFSS) tools.
Create Model Shop / Lab requests /SBD requests and support in Virtual/ Physical build as applicable
Generate ideas using various VA/VE tools like teardowns to continuously build LOS for future projects.
Work with engineering team members in remote locations (such as the US, Mexico, Italy and China) to execute new product design and production
Participates in Design reviews and Design release process to provide manufacturing sign-off before design is released.
Bring in best practice from other parts of the company and from outside the company to avoid unnecessary learning cycles
