Job Description

Temporary Fixed Term: End date 30/09/2026

You’re someone who wants to create outcomes that have a real impact on the people of NSW.

You bring structure, mitigation and education to our organisation. Our records and datasets are vast and varied. This is your opportunity to safeguard critical infrastructure, order and protect sensitive data, and defend against emerging cyber threats. You'll be part of an expert team who protect against thousands of threats every day.

In this role, you'll:

Act as a cyber security subject matter expert, working closely with Product Owners and business teams to establish a shared understanding of problem statements, risks, and desired outcomes. You will identify and articulate critical cyber risks, provide data‑driven insights, and highlight strategic gaps that may represent high or emerging risk within programs and initiatives.

You will ensure cyber controls such as PAM, DLP, IDAM, and network security are effectively designed and applied, while aligning cyber risk discussions with business value, financial impact, and investment decisions. The role operates within Agile environments, collaborating with Line 1 risk and platform owners to support informed, outcome‑focused decision‑making across complex IT and OT systems in a hybrid working model.

About you

You are an experienced cyber security professional with strong analytical skills and the ability to clearly communicate complex cyber risks to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders. You bring hands‑on expertise across areas such as identity and access management, data protection, privileged access, and network security, along with familiarity with NIST frameworks and cyber standards.

You are practical, action‑oriented, and confident influencing stakeholders, focusing on solving real problems rather than identifying risk in isolation. Motivated by impact, you value the opportunity to work across large‑scale, operational transport environments where cyber security decisions directly protect essential services relied on by millions every day.
