Job Description

Challenger Limited is an ASX-listed investment management firm managing $128.2 billion in assets (as at 31 December 2025) Life with us is fast moving and always exciting. Together we’re driving to deliver our vision to provide our customers with financial security for a better retirement.

We achieve this goal by providing a work environment where people from diverse backgrounds, with a range of skills and experiences can contribute and succeed.

Senior Analyst, Asset Implementation - Challenger Life

Challenger Life manages one of Australia's most significant insurance balance sheets and right now, the investment team is adding a newly created position to sit at the centre of how that portfolio is constructed, governed, and executed.

As Senior Analyst, Asset Implementation, you will be the critical link between investment strategy and the asset management teams - translating investment appetite into implementable structures and making sure the asset management teams have everything they need to execute with precision and purpose.

We are looking for an investment professional who understands, from the inside, portfolio construction techniques, particularly in relation to fixed income - someone with the technical depth to engage credibly with the asset management teams, the commercial curiosity to understand how a life company generates returns, and the confidence to bring solutions, push back when something isn't right, and suggest a better way when they see one.

What You Will Actually Do

Investment decisions mean nothing without precise execution. As Senior Analyst, Asset Implementation, you'll be the engine that translates strategy into results - optimising how portfolios are built, governed, and scaled.

Be the Central Conduit

  • Sit at the interface of the Investment Strategy, Asset Management and Product Investment teams - collating investment requirements and ensuring they flow accurately and efficiently to the right people
  • Own the communication infrastructure between strategy and execution, including leading regular cadence meetings with asset management teams to review positioning and align on priorities

Ensure the Portfolio Is Where It Should Be

  • Ensure the portfolio is executed precisely in line with how it has been constructed - discipline and accuracy are non-negotiable
  • Communicate capacity and cashflow matching requirements to asset management teams, proactively suggesting alternative execution methods where better options exist

Drive Accuracy in the Models

  • Review and refresh the return models used by the asset management teams - a key early priority given their importance to investment decision-making
  • Develop a working understanding of capital standards and asset risk charges, and how these influence investment decisions

Govern, Report, and Represent

  • Ensure all portfolio activity complies with investment guidelines, regulatory requirements, and internal risk limits
  • Own weekly reporting and dashboards, and present regularly to the Investment Committee you will have a genuine seat at the table

The Background We Have in Mind

  • Experience in funds management or superannuation, with exposure to implementation, portfolio construction or investment risk
  • Strong fixed income and credit expertise from an implementation and risk perspective
  • You understand return drivers, execution constraints, and what it takes to keep a portfolio aligned to its objectives
  • Excellent communication skills - you read the room, build genuine rapport, and bring people along through clear, considered dialogue
  • You bring solutions, not just analysis - proactive and willing to suggest a better way when you see one
  • Resilient and adaptable, with an eye for process improvement; a technology or systems lean is an advantage

Preferred

  • Experience with life company balance sheets or ALM-driven investing
  • Familiarity with investment systems, data infrastructure, or automation tools
  • Experience in committee-based investment models

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification in Finance, Economics, Commerce or simialr - essential
  • CFA or equivalent - preferred

What to Expect

This role is dynamic and fast-moving, with engaged investment teams and plenty happening at once. You'll bring calm, credibility, and strong relationships to keep things running smoothly. We're a collaborative business and genuinely invested in your success - from day one, you'll have the support you need to hit the ground running.
