About DESRI

DESRI (formerly D. E. Shaw Renewable Investments) is a market-leading owner and operator of renewable energy projects throughout the United States. We have acquired or developed approximately 11 gigawatts of contracted capacity across a portfolio of over 70 renewable energy projects in 24 states.

About the role

We are looking for a resourceful and driven professional to join DESRI, based out of the firm’s Hyderabad, India office. The successful candidate will be a part of a small, inclusive, highly skilled team responsible for supporting DESRI’s portfolio of wind, solar and battery projects in an agile environment that values collaboration, thoughtful problem solving, and attention to detail.

What you'll do

Design and build LLM-powered applications and agentic workflows using frameworks such as LangGraph, CrewAI, or equivalent, along with native LLM SDKs (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google).Develop and maintain scalable backend services and APIs in Python, exposing capabilities via REST and gRPC. Build LLM-driven automations (e.g., document intelligence, workflow copilots, chat-to-action systems) to augment or replace manual processes across investment, operations, and analytics. Integrate LLMs with structured and unstructured data sources, including databases, document stores, and third-party APIs. Own the end-to-end engineering lifecycle: requirements, design, implementation, testing, deployment, observability, and iteration. Establish evaluation and observability frameworks for LLM systems, balancing cost, latency, and reliability. Ensure AI safety and responsible use, including prompt-injection mitigation and PII handling. Collaborate closely with business stakeholders to translate ambiguous problems into production-grade AI solutions. Contribute to code reviews, system design discussions, and engineering best practices using GitHub-based workflows.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related quantitative field, with 2–4 years of software engineering experience and hands-on exposure to applied AI / LLM systems in production.
• Strong Python expertise with experience building scalable APIs (REST/gRPC) and production-grade backend systems.
• Hands-on experience with LLM SDKs (OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini) and agent frameworks (LangGraph or similar), including prompt engineering, agentic workflows, and building AI applications (automation, copilots).
• Experience building lightweight UIs (React, Next.js, TypeScript) and ability to prototype and iterate quickly in ambiguous environments.
• Clear communicator with a strong ownership mindset for production systems (reliability, cost, and user experience) and awareness of evaluation, observability, and AI safety best practices.
