Job Description

Senior Analyst - Bioanalytical LC-MS/MS

Manchester

Given our continued success, we are actively seeking a Senior Analyst to join our growing Bioanalytical LC-MS/MS team in Manchester.

This is an exciting opportunity to apply your quantitative LC-MS/MS experience within a GLP, GCP and GMP-accredited laboratory. You'll prepare, run and process clinical and non-clinical samples while supporting long-term pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical client programmes.

If you're an experienced LC-MS/MS analyst who values quality, teamwork and continued development, we'd love to hear from you.

ABOUT YOU

The position requires a practical and quality-focused Senior Analyst with hands-on quantitative LC-MS/MS experience and the confidence to work with clinical samples in a regulated laboratory.

You'll have approximately two to three years of relevant industry experience and be comfortable preparing, running and processing samples. Bioanalytical and pharmacokinetic experience is highly desirable, although strong quantitative LC-MS/MS experience is the essential requirement.

You'll join a close-knit team where colleagues work collaboratively, support one another and share their knowledge. You'll receive structured training in our processes, instruments and software before progressing to independent and more complex work.

Required skills and experience:

  • BSc, MSc or PhD in Biology, Chemistry or a related scientific discipline
  • At least two years of hands-on quantitative LC-MS/MS experience within an industry laboratory
  • Experience preparing, running and processing samples and interpreting quantitative LC-MS/MS data
  • Experience in, or a strong understanding of, a GxP-regulated laboratory environment and GLP, GCP or GMP principles
  • Good practical laboratory and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail
  • Good numeracy and IT skills, with the ability to calculate, tabulate and clearly report analytical results
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills and a collaborative approach to teamwork
  • Bioanalytical or quantitative pharmacokinetic analysis experience would be highly advantageous
  • Method development and validation experience, ideally following ICH M10 guidance, would be beneficial

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

As a Senior Analyst, you'll perform quantitative LC-MS/MS analysis supporting pharmaceutical and bioanalytical studies. You'll work with clinical and non-clinical samples and may analyse small and large molecules such as pharmaceuticals, proteins, peptides, lipids and oligonucleotides.

Your first few weeks will involve structured training and shadowing while you become familiar with our laboratory systems and quality processes. You'll receive support on our instruments and software, including relevant supplier training modules, before beginning with batch analysis and moving into more complex work as your confidence grows.

This role combines the security of established methods with the opportunity to develop broader technical capability. Depending on your experience, you'll also contribute to method development and validation while working across a varied portfolio of client projects.

This is an excellent opportunity to continue developing your bioanalytical career within a global pharmaceutical testing organisation and a supportive, experienced team.

Key activities:

  • Prepare, run and process clinical and non-clinical samples using quantitative LC-MS/MS
  • Perform analytical testing for pharmaceutical and bioanalytical customers in accordance with GLP, GCP and GMP requirements
  • Extract pharmaceuticals and biopharmaceuticals from biological matrices such as serum, plasma and urine
  • Generate, interpret and accurately document analytical data and study results
  • Support quantitative LC-MS/MS method development and validation under supervision, where appropriate
  • Plan and perform routine analytical work independently once trained and signed off
  • Ensure studies meet the required quality standards, regulatory expectations and clinical-phase requirements
  • Prepare technical reports or Certificates of Analysis where required
  • Learn new techniques and support work in other laboratory areas when needed
  • Maintain accurate records and comply with relevant safety, COSHH, GMO, SHE and quality systems
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and contribute positively to a close-knit team environment
