About the Team

The Merchandising Analysts team partners with U.S. Merchants to enable data-driven category decisions that drive sales, margin, inventory productivity, and omni-channel execution excellence. The team serves as the analytical engine supporting category strategy, product line reviews, vendor negotiations, inventory optimization, product setup governance, and cross-functional issue resolution across stores and online.

This team is a critical bridge between Merchandising, Inventory Planning, Supply Chain, Stores, Online, Finance, and Vendor partners to ensure accurate execution of product, cost, promotional, and stocking strategies.

Roles & Responsibilities:

Core Responsibilities:

Category & Business Insights

  • Understanding of assigned divisions/categories and provide insights to support assortment strategy.
  • Provide regular reporting and insights to support Merchants on sales growth, margin expansion, inventory productivity, and category optimization.
  • Analyze category, vendor, and item performance to identify risks and opportunities and provide actionable insights to merchants
  • Prepare presentations and supporting analysis for merchants and vendors to support strategic planning, vendor negotiations, and execution of merchandising initiatives.

Vendor and Cross Functional Stakeholder Management

  • Support Merchants in identifying and onboarding products/vendors for promotions, ensuring offers are competitive, funded, and execution ready.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to resolve vendor or product-related issues impacting availability or performance, including tracking and closure of tickets.
  • Ensure governance and integrity of freight analysis, product and vendor data, including attributes, cost, promotional deals, and vendor agreements.
  • Handle relatively complex categories, vendor scenarios, and promotional setups with minimal guidance.

Operational Excellence

  • Work with teams and vendors to prioritize initiatives that maximize business impact.
  • Develop and maintain KPI dashboards to track category performance, productivity, and execution quality.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and turnaround times.

Years of Experience:

  • Minimum 4 years of experience retail / merchandising

Education Qualification & Certifications (optional)

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • Graduate/Bachelor's Degree - in business, marketing, finance, statistics or related field (B.com / BBM / MBA / Retail Operations Management)

Skill Set Required

Primary Skills (must have)

  • Experience in retail / merchandising
  • Experience working with merchants, vendors, e-commerce vendor and item lifecycle management, pricing / promotion management, category management.
  • Understanding of retail financials (sales, margin, inventory productivity, vendor economics)
  • Proficient in - Excel, PowerPoint and Word
  • Ability to understand data, analyze and generate meaningful insights from the same
  • Good communication and presentation skills, experience working with global stakeholders
  • Strong project and process management skills
  • Ability to drive operational excellence
  • A positive attitude and extreme attention to detail

Secondary Skills (desired)

  • Advanced Excel, SQL, Power Query, Power BI, Data visualization
