About the Role

As a Senior Pricing Analyst supporting our Alaska business, you will play a key role in ensuring our pricing strategy remains competitive, compliant, and aligned with market dynamics. You'll partner closely with Sales, Customer Service, Operations, Legal, and other internal stakeholders to deliver accurate rate proposals, maintain tariffs and contracts, and support bid responses for customers shipping throughout the Alaska trade

What you’ll do:

  • Evaluate rate proposals and provide data-driven recommendations to the Pricing Director and internal stakeholders.
  • Research and identify new opportunities for pricing actions that support business performance.
  • Analyze market trends and customer requirements to support competitive pricing strategies.
  • Prepare, update, and file tariff pages and contract documents in accordance with statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop, review, and maintain contract and trucking agreement documentation as needed.
  • Respond to customer bids and RFPs in required formats with accuracy and timeliness.
  • Collaborate with Sales to ensure pricing packages align with customer needs and company objectives.
  • Work closely with Sales, Customer Service, Legal, Operations, and others to support pricing decisions.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the Pricing team.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

You have these skills:

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Familiarity with Matson systems and tools such as GATES, Tableau, Power BI, and Copilot.
  • Applies advanced knowledge gained through education and experience
  • Works independently with limited supervision
  • Manage projects or processes
  • Coaches or reviews the work of lower-level professionals
  • Independently resolves difficult and sometimes complex problems
  • Escalates appropriately, with well-formed recommendations, not just issues
  • Strong understanding of standards, regulations, and best practices relevant to role
  • Capable of identifying root causes and adapting existing approaches to solve issues

And these qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in transportation, business administration, economics, analytics, or a related field required—or equivalent industry experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of related professional experience, or 3 years of experience with a Master’s degree.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Team-oriented mindset with resilience and adaptability.
  • Commitment to company values and objectives.

Extra credit if you have:

  • Experience in pricing, transportation, logistics, sales support, or analytics preferred.

The annual salary range is posted for this position in California. The salary offered will depend upon qualifications and other operational considerations.
