Job Description

Imagine a piloted air taxi that takes off vertically, then quietly carries you and your fellow passengers over the congested city streets below, enabling you to spend more time with the people and places that matter most. At Joby, we've been working to make that dream a reality since 2009 and we're now in the final stages of certifying our aircraft with the FAA. With plans to launch our aircraft in the US and Dubai, we're now scaling manufacturing and preparing for the launch of our commercial service.

Joby Aviation is seeking a hands-on seasoned aviation professional to join our Aircraft Maintenance Quality team as we scale our electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) operations. This role is designed for a leader with deep expertise in Part 135 and Part 145 environments who is craving a challenge.

The Senior Aircraft Maintenance Quality Analyst will work along-side the Aircraft Maintenance Quality Program Manager in designing, implementing, and continuously improving a scalable Quality Management System (QMS) that supports aircraft maintenance operations and regulatory compliance across multiple aviation authorities. This role serves as a key driver of compliance, audit readiness, and quality assurance by implementing and maintaining an independent compliance monitoring system, managing audit programs, and harmonizing standards between regulatory agencies including the FAA, GCAA, and CAA.

This position requires a highly conscientious, self-driven professional with strong attention to detail, a continuous improvement mindset, and the ability to foster a culture of quality and compliance throughout the organization.

The ideal person will be able to lend their expertise to fostering competency for our maintenance and inspector personnel, emphasizing quality awareness, regulatory understanding, and procedural compliance for maintenance personnel and inspectors while supporting the development of a strong quality culture through coaching, guidance, and knowledge sharing.

Responsibilities

  • Implement, and maintain a scalable Quality Management System (QMS) that supports aircraft maintenance operations and long-term organizational growth
  • Establish policies, procedures, and processes that ensure compliance with internal standards and external regulatory requirements
  • Continuously evaluate and improve quality systems to enhance efficiency, effectiveness, and operational excellence
  • Build and manage an independent compliance monitoring system to ensure adherence to aviation regulations, company policies, and maintenance standards
  • Monitor maintenance activities and documentation to verify compliance with applicable regulatory frameworks
  • Identify compliance risks and implement corrective and preventive actions
  • Create, plan, execute, and track internal and external audits across maintenance operations
  • Manage audit findings from initiation through closure, ensuring timely corrective action and sustained compliance
  • Develop audit schedules, reporting structures, and performance metrics to support organizational transparency and accountability
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for aligning quality and maintenance standards across multiple regulatory agencies, including the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), and Civil Aviation Authority (CAA)
  • Ensure maintenance programs and compliance strategies meet the requirements of all applicable authorities while reducing inefficiencies and redundancy

Required

  • Valid FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Certificate
  • Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of experience, or a Master’s degree with 3+ years of experience, or equivalent work experience in aircraft maintenance quality assurance
  • Extensive experience operating under FAA Part 121, 135, and/or Part 145 regulations

Desired

  • Valid Inspection Authorization (IA) Certificate
  • Background in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, or Operations Management.
  • Familiarity and/or experience with ICAO and EASA regulations
  • QA Management experience in 135, 145, and/or 121 organizations
