Due to continued growth, we are looking for a Senior Air Quality Consultant to join our Air Quality Measurements team. This role presents an exciting opportunity for a recognised air quality professional to play a key role in delivering high-profile monitoring, data analysis and quality assurance projects across the UK, while supporting the future growth of the business.

As a senior member of the team, you will combine technical excellence with project leadership and client engagement, helping to develop innovative solutions that support our clients and improve air quality outcomes.

A little more about the role:

You will take a leading role in the delivery of air quality monitoring and data management projects, ensuring high quality outputs are delivered to clients and stakeholders. You will be responsible for providing technical oversight across measurement programmes, supporting quality assurance processes and interpreting complex environmental datasets.

The role will involve:

  • Leading the delivery of air quality monitoring, quality assurance and quality control projects across the UK.
  • Providing technical expertise in air quality measurements, monitoring technologies and data validation processes.
  • Managing small to medium-sized projects, programmes and work packages, ensuring delivery to scope, programme and budget.
  • Analysing and interpreting complex air quality datasets, identifying trends and presenting findings to clients and stakeholders.
  • Supporting the development and implementation of innovative approaches to air quality assessment and monitoring.
  • Building and maintaining strong client relationships, understanding client challenges and delivering practical, high-quality solutions.
  • Supporting business development activities, including preparing proposals, identifying opportunities and contributing to winning new work.
  • Mentoring and supporting junior team members, sharing knowledge and developing technical capability across the team.
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams across WSP to deliver integrated environmental solutions.
  • Travel to client sites and monitoring locations across the UK may be required as part of project delivery.

What you’ll bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical, civil, mechanical or environmental engineering, or a bachelor’s degree in physics, chemistry, or an environmental science.
  • 3 to 5 years’ experience in air quality consulting or a graduate degree in meteorology or air quality.
  • Current, clean driver licence (full or restricted preferred).
  • Electro-mechanically inclined; e.g., instrument and/or lab-based experience.
  • Field-based monitoring and sampling experience in; VOCs, Dust, Particulate Matter and Odour
  • Proficient in MS Outlook/Word/Excel ideally with familiarity with Python, R or MATLAB
  • Willingness to travel as required and work collaboratively in a diverse problem solving focused team

What we'd like you to demonstrate...

  • A recognised track record in air quality science, ideally with experience in air quality measurements, monitoring, quality assurance and quality control.
  • Significant experience analysing and interpreting environmental data, with strong statistical and analytical skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience using R or other statistical software packages.
  • Experience using GIS software such as ArcGIS or open-source GIS tools would be advantageous.
  • Proven experience managing small to medium-sized projects and delivering high-quality technical outputs.
  • Strong commercial awareness and an ability to identify, develop and secure new business opportunities.
  • Excellent client-facing and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships and understand client needs.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to delivering solutions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A relevant degree in Environmental Science, Physical Sciences, Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Full UK driving licence.
