He whakamārama mō te tūranga mahi | About the role

We are looking for an experienced Air Quality Technician to join our team, and provide expertise and conduct discharge stack emissions testing around New Zealand.

As an Air Quality Technician, you will help us collect accurate, reliable and consistent Environmental monitoring data, using complex sampling systems and instruments at multiple sites throughout New Zealand. This position focuses on Discharge Stack Emission Testing, but also includes odour monitoring, gas detection and other environmental parameters as required.

Quality is central to our work: you will help maintain our IANZ-accredited ISO 17025 quality system.

Day-to-day you can expect to work on:

  • Providing effective site investigations and sampling plans for varied projects, including consideration of access, induction and safety requirements for monitoring
  • Operation, maintenance and calibration of equipment (stack emission sampling trains, odour, and gas analysers)
  • Writing customer reports based on the data collected, with peer review to deliver accurate, defensible results
  • Working closely with a team of air quality technicians and clients, with clear and regular communication
  • Submitting samples for analysis, calculation and reporting of results
  • Maintaining quality documentation and contributing to continuous improvement within our ISO 17025 (IANZ) accredited quality system, including completion of any corrective actions

To be considered for this role, you will have at least 3 years of appropriate experience within this field of monitoring, and a Tertiary qualification in Science (Chemistry or Environmental preferred) or Engineering.

  • The role is physically active, including carrying and setting up equipment, working at height and working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • You will need to have a full driver’s license, and an ability to travel throughout New Zealand.

We will also be looking for experience with:

  • Advanced technical report writing, with demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy
  • Communicating with clients and colleagues at all levels of an organisation, with a clear and proactive approach
  • ISO 17025 quality requirements within a laboratory environment, including document control and continuous improvement (desirable)
  • Working knowledge of Health and Safety principles
  • Planning and organising fieldwork, and adapting to varied jobs and changing priorities
