Senior AI/ML Engineer

At ASSA ABLOY, you’ll be a dedicated expert focused on AI and Machine Learning initiatives. You’ll combine hands-on engineering with technical influence: building AI-powered product features, enabling developers to work more effectively with AI, and helping colleagues build the knowledge and practices to use it well.

You’ll sit at the intersection of AI/ML, software engineering and product development, working with an international team to turn modern AI technologies into reliable solutions for a global business in access and security.

The role

This is a hands-on senior role with a broad sphere of influence. You’ll design, build and deploy AI/ML solutions while helping shape how AI is adopted across the organisation.

With the freedom to take ownership, you’ll help shape our technical approach to AI, influence best practices and contribute to an emerging capability with significant room to grow.

What you’ll work on

• Design and implement AI/ML features for our products, turning models and ideas into practical production solutions.
• Select, fine-tune and integrate LLMs, classical ML models and hybrid approaches into software systems.
• Build and maintain AI agents and agent-based workflows for code generation and refactoring, test creation, code reviews and static analysis.
• Introduce AI tools and engineering workflows that improve developer productivity, code quality and ways of working.
• Help establish and continuously improve AI best practices, governance and responsible AI, with a focus on security, reliability, scalability and cost.
• Act as an AI advocate and mentor, sharing expertise and helping colleagues and teams build confidence with modern AI technologies.

What will help you succeed

• 5+ years of experience in software engineering, with a solid understanding of Machine Learning fundamentals, including training, evaluation and deployment.
• Hands-on experience with Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, LLMs, AI APIs and AI agents, and an interest in applying modern AI technologies to real-world problems.
• Strong programming experience in Python, Java, Go or similar, with the ability to integrate AI/ML solutions into production software systems.
• Experience with cloud platforms and MLOps, including areas such as deployment, monitoring, reliability and cost management.
• Experience working with data pipelines, feature stores and large-scale data or Big Data environments, together with an understanding of how data supports AI/ML solutions.
• A collaborative, self-directed and curious mindset, with the confidence to work independently, share knowledge, mentor colleagues and help teams adopt better AI practices in an international environment.

Nice to have: Experience with multi-agent or tool-using AI systems, or knowledge of security technologies such as cryptography, Secure Elements, secure access control, identification, authentication and PKI.
