Our Promise. We deliver absolute confidence in environments where failure is not an option.

Location: Hybrid – London, UK

Everfox is seeking a versatile Senior AI Software Engineer who thrives in unfamiliar codebases, learns quickly, and improves systems across diverse, fast‑moving projects. You’ll build AI‑driven features, enhance engineering workflows using modern AI tools, and work across multiple teams to deliver high‑quality, maintainable software.

Location: Hybrid – London, UK

About the role:

  • Design, implement, and maintain features across varied languages, frameworks, and internal codebases.
  • Add AI capabilities to products: model/API integration, prompt and context design, retrieval, orchestration, and the surrounding infrastructure (data handling, caching, error management, cost and latency controls).
  • Build evaluation, automated testing, and guardrails to ensure AI behaviour is measurable and stable.
  • Use and extend AI tooling and agentic workflows to improve development speed, test coverage, documentation, and reduce manual effort.
  • Prototype quickly to de‑risk ambiguous or complex problems.
  • Ramp up fast in unfamiliar systems—map key components, ask good questions, and contribute early.
  • Work as a guest engineer in other teams’ codebases, aligning on scope, following conventions, and delivering clean, maintainable handovers.
  • Share knowledge, patterns, reusable tooling, and guidance to improve engineering practices across the organization.
  • Uphold high standards for quality, security, logging, testing, failure‑mode thinking, and responsible AI data handling.
  • Contribute to CI/CD, automation, and developer tools where they accelerate project delivery.

Key Knowledge & Skills

  • Degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years plus professional software development experience and a record of shipping reliable software.
  • Experience with agentic coding tools (e.g., Claude Code, Codex) and building custom extensions.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language and ability to become productive in others quickly.
  • Solid understanding of CS fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, concurrency, networking, APIs, testing, and basic security.
  • Ability to reason about unfamiliar systems, read and model codebases, and understand change impacts.
  • Experience with modern AI development tooling or clear evidence of fast self‑learning in new technical areas.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills; trusted by partner teams.
  • Self‑motivated, adaptable, and comfortable diving into challenging, ambiguous projects.
  • If needed capable and willing to obtain Government Security Clearance.

Nice to Have

  • AI/LLM integration experience (APIs, RAG, tool calling, agent frameworks, hosted or local inference).
  • Background improving legacy systems through testing, refactoring, and reducing technical debt.
  • Breadth across desktop, mobile, backend, or systems software.
  • CI/CD experience (GitLab, Docker, Kubernetes) and Python for automation.
  • Experience or interest in security‑sensitive environments.
  • Awareness of usability and user experience.
  • Empathy, clear communication, and ability to disagree constructively.
