About the Group:

At the autonomous vehicles Foundational AI Researchteam in Israel, which is part of the GM AV AI Researchorganization, we are shaping next-generationautonomous driving, L3 and beyondThe AI Research organization is dedicated to advancing the state-of-the-art in AI for autonomous vehicles. We are a collaborative, forward-thinking group of researchers and engineers tackling some of the most complex challenges in autonomy and machine learning. 

The mission oftheAI Research groupbased in theUS,is to create groundbreaking technologiesfor next-generation autonomous vehiclesby combiningcutting-edgeresearch with real-world innovation and technology incubation. Among several initiatives, we are building multimodal foundation models (vision–language–action)over fleet- and internet-scaledata, and we are building controllable world modelsthat generate realistic, multi-sensor driving data (camera, radar, LiDAR) to strengthen coverage and accelerate long-tail reductionfor our L3 autonomy product.

About the Role:

As a senior AI researcher, you will set the technical direction in your area, drive experimentation rigor, and be a key influencer of our autonomy roadmap.You’llexplore and developnew technologiesfrominceptionto implementation. As a tech lead, you will be expected to partner with respective engineering groups such as Perception, Behavior/Policy, Data, Simulation, and Validation to ensure your research affects real-worldKPIs. In addition,you’llparticipatein high-quality paper publication at top-tier conferences/journalsand collaborate with leading academic partners.

At the GM Foundational AI Research group, your work will influence millions of drivers worldwideand definewhat’snext in autonomous drivingIf you're passionate about solving hard problemsand advancing the frontiers of autonomous driving, we want you on our team.

What will YOU do?

  • Drive downstream KPI lift for the autonomous driving agent.

  • Participate in AI research projects in the areas of VLMs / world modeling, computer vision, 3D perception, multimodal sensor fusion, and others

  • Design, build, train, and evaluate foundation models and large-scale deep learning architectures designed for autonomous driving.

  • Collaborate with engineering teams to translate state-of-the-art research into scalable production solutions.

  • Work towards external publications in top-tier conferences / journals.

  • Track emerging trends in your field

  • Incubate cutting-edge technologies aimed at impacting our L3 autonomous driving technology.

  • Build and maintain collaborations with top universities, research labs, and industry experts

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or a related field (Excellent M.Sc. graduates will be considered).

  • Over 3 years of research experience in computer vision, machine learning, autonomous perception, or related areas.

  • Strong publication record at top-tier AI/ML conferences and journals.

  • Excellent coding skills and familiarity with modern AI frameworks.

  • Hands-on experience with large-scale training, 3D data, multimodal perception, or foundation models is highly desirable.
