As a Senior Consultant in our Tax Technology Consulting team, you work as the Senior AI/ML Engineer for our AI platform used across professional services.

The platform features a sophisticated AI stack including multi-model LLM support, agentic AI pipelines, a Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) system, a tool ecosystem, and a document ingestion service.

You will lead the AI & R&D squad — owning the agent framework, RAG pipeline, LLM integrations, the tool ecosystem, and document ingestion. You will also dedicate time to R&D — evaluating new models, testing new retrieval strategies, and keeping the platform at the cutting edge.

This is a technical leadership role for someone who can translate AI research into production-grade systems and mentor a growing AI team.

#KeyResponsibilities

• Own and evolve the agent framework — supporting both autonomous and structured multi-step AI pipelines.
• Design and improve the RAG pipeline — retrieval strategies, ranking, citation generation, and document chunk management.
• Manage multi-model LLM integrations — model evaluation, prompt engineering, and cost-performance optimization.
• Contribute to the platform's tool ecosystem — designing and maintaining integrations across multiple domains.
• Own document ingestion capabilities — processing, OCR, chunking, and vector embedding generation.
• Maintain and evolve content safety and moderation capabilities.
• Dedicate R&D capacity to evaluating new models, testing retrieval strategies, and prototyping new patterns.
• Design and implement human-in-the-loop controls for AI governance.
• Mentor the AI/ML Engineer on the team — providing technical direction and code review.
• Collaborate with the Tech Lead on architecture decisions and technology choices.

#RequiredSkills

To qualify for the role, you must have:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or a related field.
• 3–6 years of experience in ML/AI engineering, with at least 1 year working on LLM-based production systems.
• Expert Python proficiency in production environments — clean architecture, async programming, comprehensive testing.
• Hands-on experience with agent frameworks — LangChain, LangGraph, or equivalent agent orchestration tools.
• Deep understanding of RAG architectures — retrieval strategies, vector databases, embedding models, ranking, and citation.
• Experience with LLM prompt engineering and model evaluation.
• Practical experience with cloud LLM APIs — Azure OpenAI, Google Vertex AI, or equivalent.
• Understanding of vector databases and embedding strategies — chunking, indexing, similarity search, and hybrid retrieval.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

• Experience with document processing pipelines — OCR, layout analysis, text extraction.
• Familiarity with human-in-the-loop agent patterns — approval workflows and safety controls.
• MLOps experience — model versioning, A/B testing, experiment tracking.
• Experience with tool-use frameworks for LLM agents.
• Multi-model orchestration — dynamically selecting models based on task complexity or cost.
• Experience with content safety and moderation systems.
• Knowledge of graph-based or workflow-based execution frameworks for AI pipelines.
• Understanding of tax, legal, or professional services domains (a plus, not required).
• Experience mentoring junior and mid-level AI engineers.
