We are seeking a highly skilled Senior AI Engineer to design, develop, and deploy innovative Artificial Intelligence solutions within a complex enterprise environment. This role will be responsible for delivering AI-powered applications and services that improve business outcomes through automation, intelligent decision-making, and enhanced user experiences.
The successful candidate will work across the full AI development lifecycle, from solution design and implementation through to governance, testing, assurance, and operational support.
Key Responsibilities
AI Solution Development
- Design, develop, and deploy AI solutions leveraging Microsoft Azure AI services and related cloud technologies.
- Build and maintain AI agents, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) solutions, workflow automation capabilities, and intelligent business applications.
- Develop modern, user-friendly front-end experiences that improve adoption and usability of AI solutions.
- Create and maintain APIs, integrations, and microservices that connect AI capabilities with enterprise systems and external data sources.
- Design and implement vector search capabilities, document intelligence solutions, and data ingestion pipelines.
AI Quality, Evaluation & Assurance
- Conduct testing, evaluation, and validation of AI solutions to assess performance, accuracy, reliability, and effectiveness.
- Perform AI assurance activities including:
- Model evaluation
- Explainability assessments
- Bias testing
- Prompt injection testing
- Adversarial and red-team testing
- Monitor solution performance and recommend continuous improvements.
Security, Governance & Compliance
- Implement AI security, privacy, and governance controls aligned with organisational policies and responsible AI principles.
- Support AI use case assessment, registration, and approval processes.
- Ensure AI solutions comply with security, risk, and governance requirements.
Stakeholder Engagement & Documentation
- Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to identify and prioritise AI opportunities.
- Produce high-quality technical documentation, architecture artefacts, operational support procedures, and knowledge transfer materials.
- Contribute to capability uplift and mentoring of internal teams.

Essential Skills & Experience
AI Engineering
- Strong development experience using Python (preferred) and/or JavaScript/TypeScript
- Hands-on experience with:
- Azure OpenAI Service
- Prompt engineering
- Function/tool calling
- Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG)
- Large Language Models (LLMs)
- Experience developing and managing AI agents using frameworks such as:
- Microsoft Agent Framework
- LangChain
- Semantic Kernel
- Similar agentic AI frameworks
- Experience evaluating Generative AI systems including:
- Accuracy testing
- Hallucination detection
- Bias assessment
- Safety and risk evaluation
- Experience conducting adversarial testing and AI red-teaming activities.
Backend & Integration
- API development experience using:
- Experience designing and developing microservices architectures.
- Experience with workflow orchestration and enterprise integrations.
- Strong understanding of cloud-native application development principles.
Data & AI Platforms
- Experience with:
- Azure AI Services
- Azure AI Search / Vector Search
- Document Intelligence solutions
- Data ingestion and processing pipelines
- Enterprise AI deployment patterns
Highly Desirable
- Experience delivering AI solutions within large, regulated, or government environments.
- Knowledge of Responsible AI frameworks and governance practices.
- Experience working within secure environments requiring security clearances.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Experience mentoring developers and contributing to AI capability development.
Qualifications
- Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
- Relevant Microsoft Azure certifications highly regarded.
