Senior AI Developer

Location: Bristol or Bideford (Hybrid)

Salary: £60,000+ DOE

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Reporting to: Head of Enterprise Architecture & AI Enablement

Working Pattern: Hybrid working with regular office presence in either Bristol or Bideford

We're now looking for a Senior AI Developer to help shape the future of software delivery across Travel Chapter.

This is a unique opportunity for an experienced software engineer who is excited by the potential of AI and agentic development. Rather than focusing solely on traditional coding, you'll work at the intersection of technology, product and business change, using AI coding agents and emerging development tools to rapidly build solutions that solve real-world challenges.

Working closely with Product Managers and stakeholders across the business, you'll identify opportunities to automate manual processes, improve efficiency and create bespoke internal applications that deliver tangible value. You'll be helping us unlock opportunities that simply haven't been possible before, enabling teams to work smarter and focus their time where it matters most.

As one of the early specialists in this space, you'll play a key role in defining how agentic software development is adopted across Travel Chapter, helping to shape our tools, practices and future direction.

What you'll be doing

• Building and delivering software primarily through AI coding agents, using tools such as Claude Code, Codex and other emerging technologies
• Working closely with Product Managers to understand business problems, explore opportunities and prioritise high-value initiatives
• Designing and developing bespoke internal applications, automations and tools that improve efficiency and create meaningful business impact
• Turning business requirements and ideas into clear delivery plans, user stories and technical solutions
• Managing multiple projects simultaneously, driving progress independently and adapting priorities as new opportunities arise
• Reviewing, validating and refining AI-generated outputs to ensure solutions are secure, scalable and production-ready
• Owning the full delivery lifecycle, from discovery and design through to deployment, monitoring and continuous improvement
• Investigating complex business and technical challenges, identifying root causes and developing practical solutions
• Creating reusable prompts, workflows and development practices that improve the effectiveness of AI-assisted engineering
• Supporting the wider engineering function in adopting new agentic ways of working

What we're looking for

We're less interested in a specific technology stack and more interested in finding someone who combines strong software engineering fundamentals with a genuine passion for AI-driven development.

You'll likely bring:

• Significant software development experience across web applications, APIs, backend services or enterprise systems
• Experience using AI coding agents as a core part of your development approach, rather than simply as an occasional productivity tool
• A strong understanding of software engineering principles, architecture and development best practice
• Experience deploying and supporting applications in production environments
• The ability to take an ambiguous challenge and turn it into a structured, deliverable solution
• Confidence reviewing, debugging and validating code generated by AI tools
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
• Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple initiatives at the same time
• A naturally curious, investigative and creative mindset
• A passion for exploring new technology and challenging traditional ways of working

It would be great if you also have

• Experience with TypeScript and Next.js
• AWS experience, including containerised workloads and EKS
• Exposure to MCP servers, agent frameworks or internal developer tooling
• Experience building evaluation frameworks or testing approaches for AI-driven systems
• Familiarity with Salesforce integrations
• Experience working within e-commerce, booking or payments environments
• Experience mentoring engineers or supporting technology adoption
• An interest in travel, hospitality or working within a purpose-led B Corp business
