About the Role:

We are looking for a Senior AI Architect to lead the introduction, scaling, and long-term establishment of AI across the company, with a strong focus on R&D and engineering use cases. In this role, you will define the AI architecture, identify high-value opportunities, and build a secure, scalable, primarily open-source-based AI ecosystem. A key focus will be the application of AI in the development of COM modules and related software, improving engineering productivity, knowledge access, software development workflows, documentation, testing, and quality processes. You will also help lay the foundation for future training, fine-tuning, and hosting of proprietary models.

Your tasks:

• Define and drive the company-wide AI architecture and roadmap
• Identify and implement high-value AI use cases, especially in R&D
• Design and establish a scalable AI platform with a strong open-source focus
• Enable AI-supported workflows in hardware development, embedded software, documentation, testing, and engineering knowledge management
• Build architectures for retrieval-augmented generation, semantic search, internal assistants, and workflow automation
• Evaluate and integrate suitable open-source models, tools, and infrastructure
• Establish the foundation for training, fine-tuning, deploying, and operating custom AI models
• Collaborate closely with R&D, IT, security, and business stakeholders
• Define standards for AI governance, security, privacy, and responsible use
• Act as a strategic and technical advisor for AI adoption across the organization

Your Profile:

• Master’s degree in Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Computer Science or a related field; a PhD is a strong advantage
• Several years of experience in AI architecture, machine learning, platform engineering, or solution architecture
• Strong knowledge of LLM-based systems, retrieval architectures, vector search, and AI platform design
• Hands-on experience with open-source AI technologies and self-hosted environments
• Good understanding of model deployment, fine-tuning, training pipelines, and AI operations
• Strong background in software architecture, integration, and secure enterprise environments
• Ideally, experience in R&D, embedded systems, electronics-related development, or engineering-driven organizations
• Management and leadership experience are considered a strong advantage
• Strong communication skills and the ability to translate AI innovation into practical business value
• Fluent in English; German is a plus
