Help create communities where people can move safely, stay connected and access the opportunities that matter most.

• Shape land use and transport outcomes from the earliest planning stages, helping create places that are accessible, connected and easy to navigate.
• Work on projects that impact everyday lives, ensuring people can safely access homes, jobs, education, services and recreation.
• Multiple on-going, full-time opportunities (35 hours per week)  
• Parramatta or other NSW DPHI office location by negotiation with flexible working arrangements supported
• Clerk Grade 9/10 ($133,348- $146,945)  

In this role, you will help shape the transport outcomes of some of NSW's most significant development and infrastructure projects. By providing specialist transport and traffic planning advice, you'll support decisions that influence how people move through their communities every day. Working closely with planners, government agencies and stakeholders, you'll help create places that are safer, more accessible and better connected, ensuring communities can continue to grow while remaining easy to navigate and connected to the opportunities people rely on.

We're looking for someone who:

• Is passionate about improving how people move through and experience their communities, recognising the important role transport plays in everyday life.
• Brings experience in transport planning, traffic engineering or development assessment, with the ability to analyse and interpret complex information.
• Can balance community, planning and transport considerations, delivering practical advice that supports informed decision-making.
• Builds trusted relationships and works collaboratively, bringing together diverse perspectives to achieve positive outcomes.
• Communicates complex technical concepts clearly, helping decision-makers understand impacts, risks and opportunities.
• Enjoys solving complex problems and finding practical solutions that support thriving, connected and accessible communities.

Essential requirements

• Tertiary qualification in transport planning, civil engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
• Proven capability in using modelling, analytical and advisory expertise to develop and inform planning, development and infrastructure proposals.
• Eligibility for professional recognition or registration as an engineer is desirable, where relevant to the role and the department’s workforce requirements.
