Job Description

As a part of a diverse community of faculty and staff who represent many faith systems and worldviews, Marian University is seeking qualified applicants for a part-time Senior Advisor to the Dean for Community Focused Arts. The senior advisor will promote our Catholic Franciscan mission and identity by implementing the strategic shift in focus from majors to the community, which is a broader part of campus vitality and engagement with the Grove, philanthropic organizations, and community partners.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Actively engage the Catholic Franciscan mission and identity of Marian University by modeling the Franciscan Sponsorship Values and honoring the legacy of the founding congregation through transformative education, unity in diversity, leadership through service, integrating faith and life, and institutional policies.
  • Ensure alignment of curricular, co-curricular, and extracurricular programming with College and University objectives.
  • Develop a strategic calendar of events to maximize use of resources (physical, capital, and human) and engage both the campus community and the surrounding neighborhoods.
  • Collaborate with the Penny Fortune Endowed Chair of Community Focused Arts on development of visual arts through collections and galleries.
  • Consult with the Dean on proposals related to department curricula with the department faculty.
  • Mentor faculty in support of the department programs and teaching.
  • Observe faculty both in their teaching roles and in their leadership of ensembles and activities related to arts engagement.
  • Prepare reports as requested by College and University leadership
  • Conduct department meetings as needed. Maintain the master plan for events including exhibitions, concerts, performances, and outreach in consultation with department faculty.
  • Consult with the Dean on annual evaluation of faculty.
  • Consult with Curriculum Directors on adjunct hiring.
  • Consult with faculty on Ensemble/Activity budget planning

Required Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. To be qualified for this position the candidate must 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.
