The role | Te tūnga

As a Senior Advisor, Strategy and Governance, you will support the Manager Strategy and Governance to help the Department develop, deliver and embed effective organisational strategy, planning and accountability processes. You’ll provide high‑quality strategic and technical advice, ensuring planning and reporting is well integrated, aligned with best practice, and meets both internal and external requirements.

This role works closely with leaders and teams across the organisation, as well as central agencies, to enable informed decision‑making and strong organisational performance. You’ll play a key part in maintaining a clear line of sight between strategy, performance, and delivery, while building strong relationships that enhance strategic capability across the Department. What you bring | Nōu te rourou

  • Demonstrated experience in strategy, planning and performance reporting within a public sector or complex organisational environment
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to interpret information and provide clear, practical advice to senior leaders
  • Proven ability to build and maintain effective relationships, including influencing and engaging stakeholders at all levels
  • Sound judgement and confidence navigating complex, ambiguous or sensitive issues
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience preparing high‑quality reports and briefings
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver to agreed timelines
