About the role

We are looking for a Senior Advisor, Project Controls (Scheduling) to develop, maintain and report integrated schedules for capital projects. With a strong focus on planning and scheduling, you will help project teams understand progress, risks, changes and forecast impacts so they can make informed delivery decisions.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced project controls professional who combines advanced scheduling capability with strong stakeholder partnership and practical problem-solving. You will work independently, recommend solutions to complex planning challenges, support process improvements and provide informal guidance to less experienced team members.

Reporting to the Manager, Project Controls and working as a key member of an integrated project controls team, you will be:

What you’ll be doing

• Develop, maintain and report integrated schedules for assigned capital projects using approved project controls processes and tools.
• Lead schedule development and monitoring for assigned areas, maintaining schedule integrity and supporting weekly and monthly performance reporting.
• Analyze plans and schedules for logic, constructability, sequencing, critical path, risk and change impacts, and recommend practical improvements.
• Integrate contractor, constructor and vendor schedules into the master schedule and work with key stakeholders to resolve gaps, interfaces and dependencies.
• Partner with mine planning, cost engineering and estimating teams to support cost and resource loading and effective integration between schedules and cost systems.
• Support change control within approved systems and processes, proactively assessing and communicating schedule implications and forecast impacts.
• Build effective relationships with project, contracting and planning stakeholders and provide technical scheduling support that strengthens project decision-making.
• Identify opportunities to streamline work processes, support compliance with standardized systems and tools, and share knowledge across the project controls team.

About you

To be successfully considered for this role, you will bring:

• A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team.
• A bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience. Education in business administration, project management, accounting or a related discipline is considered beneficial.
• Extensive experience in project planning and scheduling within an industrial, mining, construction or similarly complex capital-project environment.
• Demonstrated proficiency with Oracle Primavera P6 and experience developing, maintaining and analyzing integrated project schedules.
• Experience integrating contractor schedules into a master schedule and supporting cost and resource loading and schedule integration with cost systems.
• Strong knowledge of project controls practices, along with analytical, communication and stakeholder-management skills and the ability to work independently, solve complex problems and guide others.

Additional asset: Experience with Deswik planning software is considered an asset.

Where you’ll be working

Rio Tinto Kennecott is a fully integrated copper operation located just outside Salt Lake City, Utah. The operation includes a mine, concentrator, smelter and refinery and produces copper, precious metals including gold and silver, molybdenum, tellurium and sulfuric acid. Kennecott has mined and processed minerals from the Bingham Canyon ore body since 1903.
