Senior Social Media Advisor - NSW Government Social Media team Temporary full-time opportunity December 2026 to December 2027 Salary: Clerk 9/10 - $133,348 – $146,945 + superannuation and leave loading Hybrid from Sydney CBD - flexible working arrangements and state-of-the-art offices.  Develop and deliver engaging social media content and campaigns.Provide strategic advice and guidance on social media best practice across NSW public sector. The NSW Government Social Media Team is a high-performing team responsible for managing the NSW Government's Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn channels and leading social media best practice across the NSW public sector. We create engaging content, provide strategic advice, support agencies and help government better connect with the people of NSW.

As a Senior Social Media Advisor, your primary role will be to develop engaging, customer-focused social media content that supports government priorities and delivers value to NSW audiences. You will use audience insights, performance data to inform content decisions and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.

The Digital Channels and Creative Directorate means you’ll collaborate closely with a community of social media, video and design practitioners to support your creative direction. You will be able to collaborate with social practitioners across government.. Your key accountabilities include: Interpret and execute social media strategy to ensure content development focusses on the organisational objectives. Develop positive relationships with business areas to understand priorities and current and emerging contentious issues. Provide advice on best practice social techniques and strategy across a range of social media platforms to NSW Government stakeholders. Source, create and coordinate social media content, including quality checks and approvals before publishing. Analyse channel performance and audience insights to optimise content and inform future activity. Contribute to the development of social media policies, guidelines and best practice resources. Identify emerging platform trends, risks and opportunities and provide strategic recommendations. Support paid social campaigns and amplification activities where required. Key Challenges Maintaining momentum on long-term social media platform development while continuing to respond to daily priorities and being responsive and resilient in a changing environment with competing demands. Keeping abreast of social media evidence-led best-practice, contentious issues, and other risks likely to impact the way we communicate with clients, stakeholders and/or the public.

Balancing strategic planning, stakeholder expectations and reactive issues in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Essential Skills and Experience:Demonstrated experience developing and delivering successful social media content and strategies. Excellent written communication skills and the ability to write for different audiences and platforms. Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills. Experience using analytics and insights to evaluate performance and optimise social media activity. Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.

Desirable Skills and Experience:Experience working in government, public sector or complex stakeholder environments. Experience using enterprise social media management and reporting tools.
