Save the Children Action Network

Save the Children Action Network (“SCAN”) – a 501(c)(4) organization – is the political advocacy arm of Save the Children. We are building bipartisan support to make sure every child has a strong start in life. We’re doing this by advocating for high-quality early learning and ending child hunger in the U.S., the safety of children arriving at the southern U.S. border and educating and protecting kids around the world.

The Role

As the Senior Advisor, National & Rapid Response Campaigns, you will play a key role in supporting the Managing Director, Campaign Strategy & Infrastructure by supporting strategy and leading tactics related to high-impact national advocacy campaigns that advance Save the Children Action Network’s strategic priorities. You will translate federal policy objectives into compelling, actionable campaigns that drive grassroots engagement, public visibility, and coordinated advocacy across SCAN’s national and state network.

Working in close partnership with SCAN regional directors, government relations and other divisional teams, you will develop and operationalize integrated national campaign strategies and also lead on rapid response mobilization efforts during key moments. Your work will ensure SCAN’s national campaigns are effectively executed, coordinated across teams, and positioned to drive measurable advocacy impact.

What You’ll Be Doing (Essential Duties)

National Advocacy Campaign Strategy & Design (40%)

  • In partnership with the Managing Director, lead the strategy and execution of integrated national advocacy campaigns aligned with SCAN’s strategic priorities and federal policy agenda.
  • Translate policy priorities, research, and organizational goals into actionable campaign plans, including tactics, timelines, and performance targets.
  • Develop and manage campaign workplans, toolkits, and activation resources to ensure consistent execution across states and constituencies.
  • Partner with Marketing & Growth, Government Relations, and communications teams to ensure campaigns are executed effectively across digital and media channels.
  • Oversee campaign rollout, coordination, and implementation across teams, ensuring alignment, accountability, and timely delivery.
  • Ensure national campaigns leverage and activate SCAN’s state-based grassroots network to drive federal advocacy outcomes.

Rapid Response Campaign Mobilization (25%)

  • Lead the end-to-end execution of rapid response advocacy campaigns during high-priority national moments, emergencies, or policy developments.
  • Develop and operationalize rapid response playbooks, including roles, timelines, approval processes, and activation pathways.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams to ensure timely messaging, approvals, and deployment of campaign tactics during urgent advocacy moments.
  • Ensure operational readiness across teams to enable fast, coordinated, and effective campaign activation.

Cross-Functional Campaign Coordination (20%)

  • Serve as a central coordination lead across Government Relations, state campaign teams, communications, and advocacy functions to drive aligned execution.
  • Partner with the Senior Advisor, State & Electoral Campaigns to ensure national campaigns are informed by and aligned with state-level priorities and implementation.
  • Manage campaign timelines, stakeholder engagement, approvals, and execution processes across multiple teams.
  • Ensure integration of campaign efforts across digital advocacy, grassroots organizing, volunteer engagement, and earned media.

Campaign Performance, Reporting & Operational Support (15%)

  • Track campaign execution, engagement metrics, and performance in coordination with data and operations teams.
  • Monitor campaign progress against goals and adjust tactics to improve effectiveness and impact.
  • Manage campaign vendors, timelines, and operational deliverables as needed to support execution.
  • Support planning and delivery of major advocacy moments, convenings, and national activation efforts.

Required qualifications for the role

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, plus at least 7 years of relevant experience in advocacy campaigns, grassroots organizing, public affairs, political campaigns, or issue-based mobilization
  • Demonstrated experience designing and executing integrated public-facing advocacy campaigns that translate policy and organizational priorities into coordinated grassroots, digital, communications, and mobilization strategies
  • Experience supporting rapid response, crisis-response, or high-profile mobilization efforts
  • Experience working closely with government relations, public policy, communications, or advocacy teams in a cross-functional environment
  • Strong campaign strategy, project management, and operational coordination skills, including managing timelines, vendors, budgets, and multiple concurrent priorities
  • Experience developing campaign toolkits, messaging frameworks, supporter engagement resources, and activation materials
  • Familiarity with grassroots advocacy, supporter engagement, CRM, or digital mobilization platforms
  • Strong written, verbal, facilitation, and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels, both internally and externally
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 20%
  • Professional proficiency in MS Office suite
  • Professional proficiency in spoken and written English

Compensation

Save the Children Action Network is offering the following salary ranges for this position, dependent on candidate location:

  • Geo 1 - NY Metro, DC, and other locations with labor costs significantly above national average: Target Salary for this position is $119,425 - $133,475 base salary
  • Geo 2 - Locations around the US National Labor Cost Average: Target Salary for this position is $107,525 - $120,175 base salary
  • Geo 3 - Locations significantly below the US National Labor Cost Average: Target Salary for this position is $96,050 - $107,350 base salary

The salary ranges listed above are for US based candidates. For candidates located outside of the US, salary ranges will be based on the salary scales of the local employer of record. Actual base salary may vary based on, but not limited to, relevant experience, base salary of internal peers, business sector, and geographic location (more information on job structure is available here).
