We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Advisor to join our Strategy Group within the Digital Services (DS) Branch. The Digital Services Branch supports the Government Chief Digital Officer (GCDO) and Deputy GCDO within the Department of Internal Affairs to lead the development of shared digital process and infrastructure for government.

The Strategy Group develops strategy for digital government that positions the government to be responsive in a changing digital age and supports the Branch to engage across the public and private sectors to deliver that strategy.

In this role you will use your policy or strategy experience alongside supporting development of tangible work programmes to deliver digital strategy, such as increasing the use of artificial intelligence across government, taking a joined-up approach to digital investment and procurement, or enabling joined-up services across government.

Your key responsibilities may include:

• Working alongside the team to deliver the Public Service Artificial Intelligence work programme
• Drafting briefings, presentations and speeches for senior leaders
• Providing strategic guidance for the Public Service Artificial Intelligence work programme.
• Supporting OIA’s and Official Correspondence activities, including working with others in the branch to collate and analyse information.

The key skills and capabilities required for this position include:

• Experience working collaboratively to deliver government strategy
• Experience drafting engagement plans, briefings, speeches and presentations
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills, to support maintaining a balance amongst varying expectations and requirements
• Ability to manage ambiguity and confidently use initiative when dealing with a broad range of complex, evolving information
• Demonstrated understanding of machinery of government
• Proactive approach with judgement about when to seek input from others and when to escalate
