About the Work Unit
the School of Nursing Admissions Office is responsible for marketing and recruitment for Master of Nursing (MN), Master of Science in Nursing (MSN), Post Master's Certificate (PMC) and Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) programs. The Admissions Office communicates with prospective students by phone, answers messages sent to vusn-admissions@vanderbilt.edu mailbox, travels to local and national student recruitment events, hosts in-person and virtual events for prospective students, updates the MN, MSN, PMC and DNP admission pages, processes MN, MSN, PMC and DNP applications, and communicates admission decisions (admit, regarding marketing priorities and processing applications.
Key Functions and Expected Performance
Recruitment and Outreach
- Travel both locally and nationally to represent the School of Nursing at recruitment events, conferences and partner institutions.
- Leads the planning development and execution of information sessions and on campus events to promote MN, MSN, PMC and DNP programs.
- Serves as primary point of contact for prospective students, delivering accurate information via phone, email, virtual platforms, walk-ins and VUSN website.
Admissions Operations and Application Management
- Manage and update application materials and systems for MN, MSN, PMC and DNP programs to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Process applications and coordinate review workflows in partnership with Academic Directors.
- Communicate admissions decisions to applicants in alignment with established policies and timelines.
- Oversees the lifecycle of the admissions process within the Slate system and manages data reporting on admissions data.
Stakeholder Engagement and Program Coordination
- Act as a liaison between prospective students and Academic Directors, facilitating communication, clarifying program details and supporting applicant progression.
- Collaborate with faculty and administrative teams to align recruitment messaging and admissions process.
- Provide excellent customer service to enhance the applicant experience from inquiry through enrollment.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support enrollment and programmatic goals.
Supervisory Relationships
This position does not have supervisory responsibility.
Education and Certifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education is necessary.
- Master's degree from an accredited institution of higher education is preferred.
Experience and Skills
- 3-5 years of experience in admissions, enrollment management, recruitment or student services higher education preferred. Other relevant experience will be considered.
- Demonstrated experience engaging prospective students through multiple channels - in-person, phone, email and virtual.
- Experience planning and supporting recruitment events, information sessions and outreach initiatives preferred.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to travel and work occasions nights/weekends for recruitment events.
