About the role

Mater has an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic Senior Administration Officer to join the Inpatients Administration Team working part-time as a ward clerk in the Mater Private Hospital South Brisbane.

This Senior Administration Officer role is a permanent part-time opportunity (56 hours per fortnight) and will see you working varied day shifts 630 – 1500 and every 2nd Saturday 800 - 1200. Flexibility in availability will provide opportunities for additional shifts.

Salary: $39.79 - $44.25 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!

What you’ll be doing

Key Accountabilities and experience required for this role include but are not limited to:

  • Manage, organize, and provide confidential administrative support to the various wards ensuring areas are efficiently managed, representing Mater with strong customer focus to staff, patients and visitors
  • Ability to respond competently in emergency situations, remaining calm and composed and to ‘think on your feet.’
  • Performing administrative functions as required, in accordance with departmental policies and procedures working closely with the Nursing Unit Manager and Clinical Team
  • Ensure effective, accurate and timely communications with staff and clients, communicating with sensitivity and discretion
  • Provide accurate data entry using various network-based information systems to effectively manage patient admissions and transfers in a timely and accurate manner
  • Carry out other administration functions as directed by your Team Leader/Manager
  • Exercise judgement where necessary to solve immediate problems in situations where precedents have not been set and procedures not defined

About you

The successful candidate will possess:

  • High level customer service, verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to provide efficient and effective administrative support in a timely and organized manner
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff, patients, and visitors.
  • Accurate data entry skills with a high-level proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work effectively within busy, demanding, fast paced environment

While previous experience in a similar role is not mandatory, previous administration experience within a healthcare environment will be very highly regarded.
