Job Description
We are a leading Accounting & Financial Advisory firm. On behalf of our client, an established company operating in the Shipping & Energy sector, we are seeking a high-caliber Accounting Supervisor. In this role, you will lead the accounting team, oversee daily financial operations, and act as the primary financial liaison at the client's premises.
Key Responsibilities
- Team Leadership: Supervise, mentor, and allocate daily tasks to the accounting team.
- Vessel Accounting: Audit and approve shipping-related costs (bunkers, port fees, repairs, MGA) and manage P&I / H&M claims.
- Financial Reporting: Coordinate month-end/year-end closings and prepare monthly management reports and voyage results per vessel.
- Reconciliations: Oversee bank movements, cash flows, and supplier/customer ledger reconciliations.
- Compliance: Ensure absolute alignment with Greek tax laws and collaborate with internal departments, external auditors, and banks.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Shipping.
- Experience: 5+ years in accounting, with 2–3 years in a supervisory or senior role.
- Technical Skills: Advanced MS Excel (Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP) and strong experience with ERPs.
- Core Knowledge: Sharp understanding of Greek accounting/tax legislation.
- Languages: Fluency in Greek and English.
Pluses
- Prior experience in Ship Management or Shipping Accounting.
- Familiarity with maritime terms (freight, laytime, demurrage, disbursements).
