Job Description
Reports directly to the Controller. Responsible for assisting with the accounting and other daily functions of the accounting office. Oversees Casher and Payroll Supervisor. The accounting office is responsible for maintaining general accounting records, financial reporting, student billing and collections, cash disbursements, cash receipts and payroll. This position is classified as a confidential position.
Qualifications
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS (including but not limited to)
- Preparation of monthly journal entries.
- Preparation of monthly balance sheet account reconciliations.
- Supports Controller and Senior Accounting Manager with year-end close, including various reconciliations, accruals, and preparation of year-end closing entries.
- Supports Controller and Senior Accounting Manager with preparation for the annual audits.
- Oversees fixed assets, which includes analysis of capital project invoices, accounting entries, and performs annual capitalization process in Colleague system.
- Coordinates with Advancement to ensure the gift revenue/donations recorded in appropriate category. Provides Ad-Hoc reports as needed.
- Maintains the chart of accounts. Ensures confidentiality of specified records. Proper handling of extremely confidential and sensitive information.
- Monitors internal compliance and communicates accounting policies and procedures to schools/departments, as needed.
- Collaborates with the Senior Accounting Manager in project accounting functions and maintains accurate payment records for reporting purposes.
- Oversees and supports the Payroll Supervisor, which includes review and analysis of payroll reporting and various payroll reconciliations.
- Oversees Federal grant accounting activities to ensure accuracy of federal reporting and gift expenditure recording.
- Assists with various projects.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree required. Accounting or finance preferred.
- 5 years of experience in accounting or finance, CPA preferred.
- Knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, tax reporting and accounting best practices.
- Experience with various accounting software required.
- Excellent excel skills and a working knowledge of Microsoft Office required.
