Job Description

Wood is currently recruiting for a Senior Accountant to join our Professional Services team in Bogotá, Colombia, supporting our U.S. and Canadian businesses and transactions. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced accounting professional looking to take ownership of key financial activities while working in a collaborative, international environment.

The role

As a Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for the accounting and financial control of assigned projects, contracts and service lines. You will take ownership of month-end close, revenue recognition, project and cost accruals, balance sheet control and financial reporting, while also supporting forecasting, planning and working capital activities. Working closely with operational, commercial and finance stakeholders across the business, you will help ensure financial information is accurate, timely and aligned with Wood's accounting policies and control requirements. The position offers a high degree of independence and requires sound judgement, strong analytical capability and the confidence to identify and resolve accounting and reporting matters.

What You'll Do

  • Own accounting activities for assigned projects, contracts and service lines, including revenue recognition, costs, accruals, provisions and accounting estimates.
  • Lead month-end close activities for your assigned areas, ensuring accuracy and completion within corporate deadlines.
  • Prepare and review balance sheet and sub-ledger reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies.
  • Analyze financial results, explain significant movements and identify financial, accounting and commercial risks and opportunities.
  • Prepare annual budgets and periodic forecasts.
  • Support cash flow forecasting and working capital management.
  • Partner with Project Controls, Commercial, Contracts and operational teams to review financial information and determine the appropriate accounting treatment.
  • Support internal and external audits, statutory reporting and compliance activities.
  • Identify opportunities to improve finance processes and controls.
  • Provide guidance and support to other finance team members when required.

Required:

  • Demonstrated accounting experience, including month-end close, reconciliations and financial reporting.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, accruals, provisions and financial reporting requirements.
  • Experience with budgeting, forecasting and management reporting.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to independently investigate and resolve accounting and reporting issues.
  • Experience supporting internal and external audits.
  • Experience with statutory reporting and compliance activities is preferred.
  • Knowledge of financial systems and reporting tools such as Oracle ERP.
  • Business-level English, as this position supports US and Canadian businesses.
  • A degree or equivalent further education is preferred.
  • CPA, CA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent accounting qualification is preferred. Candidates actively working toward a recognized professional accounting qualification will also be considered.
