The Senior Accountant III - Retail Accounting, supports the financial close process, reporting, and analysis activities for Vistra’s Retail Brands, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in accounting operations.
Key Accountabilities
Executes complex tasks with a strong understanding of relevant policies, procedures, and controls.
Analyzes data, identifies trends, and provides insights to support decision-making and operational efficiency.
Reviews and reconciles information to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with company standards.
Collaborates with cross-functional teams to improve processes and implement best practices.
Assists in preparing and reviewing reports, ensuring clarity, completeness, and adherence to guidelines.
Supports continuous improvement efforts by identifying inefficiencies and recommending solutions.
Provides mentorship and guidance to junior team members, contributing to knowledge sharing and skill development.
Role Specific Accountabilities:
Ensures the monthly close process for Vistra’s Retail Brands is timely, complete and accurate, in compliance with US GAAP and other reporting requirements.
Assists in the preparation and analysis of results, including identification of key drivers of variances between actual results and plan, projection, and prior year.
Prepares and/or reviews reconciliations, financial schedules, and variance analyses for retail revenue, bad debt expense, and related accruals.
Collaborates across multiple organizations including Planning, Residential and Business Markets, Marketing.
Education, Experience, & Skill Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
Experience:
3+ years of experience in Accounting or related field
Experience preferred in the Energy industry, but not required
Skills:
• Experience with accounting and/or reporting systems
• Strong financial analysis, problem solving & communication skills
• Process improvement oriented
• Fundamental understanding of the accounting close process
