Senior Accountant – GovCon | Contract-to-Hire | Lorton, VA (Hybrid)

Cordia Resources by Cherry Bekaert is partnered with a leading government contracting firm who is seeking a Senior Accountant to join their team on a Contract-to-Hire basis.

Location: Lorton, VA – Hybrid (3 days onsite, 2 days remote)
Type: Contract-to-Hire
Conversion Salary: $85,000–$110,000

About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant with a strong background in General Ledger (GL) accounting and GovCon compliance. This role is ideal for professionals who thrive in a fast-paced, federally regulated environment and have hands-on experience with Deltek Costpoint or similar ERP systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform day-to-day accounting operations, including GL data entry and reconciliations.
• Manage month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
• Prepare and post journal entries and maintain balance sheet account reconciliations.
• Assist with financial statements, supporting schedules, and audit readiness.
• Support DCAA audits, incurred cost submissions, and compliance with federal regulations.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Payroll, HR, IT) to ensure accurate financial data.
• Prepare ad hoc reports and analysis as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in GL accounting, month-end close, and reconciliations.
• Current experience with Deltek Costpoint (or other large ERP systems).
• Strong knowledge of GovCon accounting practices and compliance requirements.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial systems.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.

Preferred:

• Familiarity with FAR, DCAA, and federal compliance frameworks.
