Job Description

Our client, a well-established CSP based in Malta, is currently looking for a Senior Accountant to join their team. In this role, you will take ownership of your own client portfolio, mentor junior team members, and develop your expertise within the sector.

This is a hybrid role offering a salary of up to €45K plus performance bonus.

Please note that only candidates already based in Malta can be considered.

Role & Responsibilities

• Completing management accounts for own portfolio of clients, managing the annual audit process to meet statutory deadlines
• Preparing and submitting VAT Returns for clients
• Ensuring all tasks across own and junior team members' portfolios are completed in line with statutory requirements and client deadlines
• Attending client meetings for own portfolio, and supporting junior team members in their meetings
• Liaising with management on clients' accounting requirements and reporting significant accounting matters
• Reviewing financial statements, including complex disclosures, and reviewing VAT Returns prepared by other team members
• Contributing to ongoing monitoring within the accountancy department for compliance purposes
• Mentoring junior team members, acting as a point of reference for technical queries, reviewing their work, and holding regular catch-ups to track progress and provide feedback
• Promoting internal procedures and best practices, and identifying training needs within the department, working with management to deliver training
• Liaising with internal departments to obtain information needed for timely preparation of financial statements and statutory returns
• Supporting management and team leaders in writing articles for the company website

Education, Skills & Experience

• 2+ years of experience in a client accounting environment in Malta
• Fully qualified in Accounts or similar by a recognised qualification
• Strong knowledge of client accounting and VAT, with confidence in technical aspects
• Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Outlook, Word) and SAGE
• Fluency in English, both written and spoken
• Ability to work independently and within a team, with strong problem-solving skills
• Highly organised, able to prioritise tasks and work on multiple assignments
• Responsible and ethical when handling sensitive financial information
